1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
We really enjoyed the boat trip to Isle Graciosa – the operator organised it. We went on a RIB speed boat to get there, then went snorkelling, walking through the town and a beautiful lunch. It was a really lovely trip and our 2 year old loved it!! We even saw a flying fish!!!
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
A car rental is needed to really explore the island and there is so much to explore. Rent a Prius from the operator - they drive really well, get great mileage and are automatic!
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes the Finca is off the grid so the environmental impact is minimal.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Excellent, brilliant, holiday of a lifetime. We were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary and it was better than our honeymoon!!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Arriving and being a little nervous about expectations and whether seeing everything in the "flesh" would match up. No problems at all really relaxed well judged approach. It is probably a huge cliche but seeing the children laughing and playing by themselves and with new friends meant I was more relaxed - it all just ticked over perfectly and resulted in a great holiday.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Get up early if you want to go the National Park. It is well worth the effort but the traffic queues were enormous by mid-morning.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
There was a brilliant emphasise on using local restaurants supporting those who cook authentic locally produced food and to attend markets, particularly the local farmers market. The grocery box on our arrival came from a local farmer and contained food I probably wouldn't have bought in the supermarkets but which I bought again during our stay.
Self-sufficiency was discussed properly, albeit over a bottle of wine and paella with the consultant who helped set up the solar and wind power sources! He was clearly well supported by Michelle and Tila who run the site and was very enthusiastic about continuing to improve their sustainability.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Absolutely lovely.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Lots of little things that had clearly been thought through to make your life as easy as possible, whether it was the way the yurts had been laid out to give safe outdoor space for a toddler to play in, to the fact that child cutlery and crockery were available, to cling film and foil being on hand. Not exciting but kept hassle to an absolute minimum which was very much appreciated.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
The pool is solar heated so a bit too cold for swimming in the springtime (we were there mid March).
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Yes - the finca isn't on mains electricity so generates its own, and makes you aware of how to conserve water and electricity without it impacting negatively on your holiday. They promote local businesses (e.g. farmers providing welcome packs of food, car rental).
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Excellent - first big holiday with toddler, and she LOVED it! Very relaxing for us too.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Probably visiting the Timanfaya volcano site, and the incredible (lunar) landscapes, also staying in a yurt and collecting tons of lovely volcanic stones was quite a must for the kids!!
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Probably good not to go there in December if you want to enjoy warmth and sea-swimming, weather was rather unsettled, a bit of wind and rain, although of course it was 10,000 better than where we flew from!! (England).
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Yes! We liked the solar panels to heat water and feed lighting; Water is recycled according to the owners, to water the garden which is great; However, it could be improved by switching to Eco-friendly soaps and washing up liquids (the ones available there were very basic non-eco-friendly ones) for instance.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
8 out of 10; very relaxed, local people delightful, yurts are fun, incredible sceneries.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The swimming pool! And the lovely, well thought out site. And Sally was great.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
It is a peaceful site and noise travels. Do not expect a riotous time.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
It certainly minimized impacts on the environment, it being powered by wind and sun. Not sure how much it benefited local people?
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
It was great. Everything you might need was either thought of in-advance or provided if possible on request. The owners and staff were lovely and very helpful.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
We found Lanzarote very interesting, particularly the volcanic areas and various Cesar Manrique projects and did considerably more sight-seeing than anticipated on what was essentially a beach holiday. The beaches were varied and lovely, the Canarian food sensational and the yurt accommodation was charming, comfortable and as sociable or private as guests preferred it to be. The boat trip to La Graciosa and catamaran trip to Punta Papagayo were particularly enjoyable experiences.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
We pre-arranged car hire for four days of our fortnight and ended up extending that for a further week, as although Arrieta is in easy walking distance and has beach, supermarkets and restaurants, there was so much to do further afield. Car hire was extremely good value (as is everything in Lanzarote).Other than that, just book your trip for as long as possible, safe in the knowledge that you can look forward to a brilliant holiday. The owners and staff couldn't have been more helpful which meant that we could relax from the moment we touched down to the moment we joined the queue for check in. (Thanks Michelle, Tila, Jill, Manuel and co. x)
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Yes, Lanzarote Retreats use solar and wind power, rubbish is sorted for recycling and there are bikes available for guest's use. A number of local people are employed at the finca and the owners seem very supportive of other Lanzarote businesses.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Excellent - very relaxing, but also educational. The holiday was perfect for our family with three children between 9 and 14 yrs, but seemed equally suitable for those travelling as couples, or with toddlers and babies. We have never previously repeated a holiday, but this is one destination that we will seriously consider going back to.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Watching the sunrise over the sea.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
If you are staying in a Yurt with small children remember that you are all in one room and sleep may be somewhat limited! Hire a car.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Yes - eco water system, solar panels, solar night lights and wind turbines.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Good. Donkey, chickens and rabbits are all great features when travelling with a high-energy 2 year old.
