1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Our vacation was a dream come true. Owner, Keith has built the whole place by hand with logs he found on the nearby beaches. What he has done is remarkable and his wife Randi adds the special touches that make the place really feel like being home. Comfort, service, adventures - The wildlife was everywhere. We saw goats and their little babies on the cliffs and then sea otters with their babies in the ocean right from our cabin and on the last day we saw 2 humpback whales in front of the lodge. We went bear viewing by airplane and saw great big grizzly bears and returned home for one of many delicious meals. The whole experience was a tremendous pleasure. Several of the other guests at the lodge have become our good friends and we are already planning a reunion at the lodge for the summer of 2010. We are visiting right now for the winter experience. I cannot say enough about how nice our trip was (and is) and the fact that both the owners and the staff are ecologically wise only adds to the experience. They even plant trees for each of their guests.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Book early. They have 5 cabins and they fill up fast.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
In every way.

Our trip was absolutely awesome! We were so excited to realize our destination on your website. We loved this lodge. Randi and Keith Iverson are incredible hosts. Randi's home cooked meals were unbelievable...some of the best food I've eaten in a while! Keith is an outdoors man in a total sense of the word! It is truly obvious that this lodge is keenly aware of the importance nature plays in our world. They practice eco-friendly living! Carefully selected leftover foods were fed to the wildlife each day at the lodge. It was amazing to witness the majestic Bald Eagles swoop down to grab a snack, or the minx running for his life to devour salmon! It was breathtaking!! We experienced emotions that could only be evident in Alaska!
It was obvious this lodge plays a role in the local economy by providing Homer's best to it's customers. Their belief in the impact of true, raw nature is evident throughout Homer. We know this because most people we talked with in the quaint city of Homer knew Randi and Keith and were familiar with the work they had done at this lodge. It was almost like they considered them as a next door neighbor, even though the lodge was a good 30 minute boat ride from Homer.
We're convinced we will return to experience yet another project Randi and Keith are undertaking. One of the last things we told them before we left was, "Save us a room"!!! Our cabin was comfortable, the view from our bed was to die for!!! Snow covered mountains on each side, ocean in between, dolphins and otters playing in the cove, islands and a steaming volcano in the distance. And some of the most comfortable linens on our bed...we just melted into the covers each night when the air was cool and crisp. What more could anyone ask???
Keith performed our wedding ceremony in front of the lodge at low tide. Of course, that was the most memorable part of our trip. I have already shared your website with several acquaintances who are interested in an eco-friendly experience! I pointed out that you have so much to offer to everyone from the most experienced back packer to the first time camper!!! Thanks again for being there for us during such a special time in our lives!!
