Amy Wolitzer review 18 Jun 2011
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
"Camping" out in the wilds of Africa. The quote marks are because it was the most comfortable camping I have ever experienced. The tents were bigger than our bedroom, the food was incredible and the hot, private in-tent camp shower so refreshing. But we were truly out in the wild and could hear baboons near our camp and find elephant dung behind the tents.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
You don't need to bring boots or other rugged travel gear. We went in early June and mosquitoes were not a problem at all. Not a single bite. You still want to take your anti-malarial meds just in case but we didn't need the headnets and deet. Make sure to bring plenty of cash for tipping the wonderful staff.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
I didn't so much get the feel it benefited the local population as a whole but the staff certainly seemed to love their jobs and I get the impression they are paid well. The camps were set up to minimalize their impacts on the environment.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Wonderful wonderful wonderful! A great time, well planned and provided for.
