Helena Posnett review 19 May 2009
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Fantastic mountain biking in a beautiful location - one of the best holidays I've been on and I came away feeling I'd really pushed myself physically and mentally, and achieved something. The guides were superb, encouraging and great fun, and the food was excellent.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Just do it. My rental bike was great, and you should be prepared for all weather.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Yes in as much as we stayed in locally owned B&Bs, had supper in local pubs/restaurants, used local guides, took the train to Penrith and mountain biked on existing trails. A fantastic holiday, but I didn't feel there was anything particularly out of the ordinary in terms of 'responsible practices' - no RT briefing, the B&Bs weren't particularly 'green' e.g. the heating was un-necessarily high, and picnic food leftovers were thrown away (which we did mention at the time) and there didn't appear to be any rubbish separation.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
9/10 - met some great people and am planning the next trip!
