Eco lodge accommodation in Bali, independent reviews

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The ecolodge was very comfortable with friendly hosts who were able to tell us a lot about the wildlife of Indonesia. South Bali has been rather spoiled but you can get away from the traffic and tourists here in the Jimbaran Hills and take taxis to sample all the amazing beaches have to offer - surfing, windsurfing, snorkeling, fish restaurants, etc. Or just swim in the pool which has a fantastic view over to the mainland.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Jimbaran Beach is half an hour's walk away and there's a steep climb back up to the lodge. Be prepared to pay for taxis to the beaches unless you're content with the pool and large wildlife garden and also for traffic jams through Kuta and Jimbaran. The lodge and surrounds are beautiful and peaceful though.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

The ecolodge employed well trained, friendly local staff and was obviously committed to high standards of environmental management. This is just one of a number of ecolodges in Indonesia under the same ownership with amazing access to rare wildlife but I'm not sure how much wildlife is left in South Bali. As a combination holiday with another ecolodge it really worked for us - we did the beaches and the markets from this ecolodge and then enjoyed the peace and wildlife of the mountain and Bali village life at the other ecolodge.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

The best holiday we've ever had, particularly the elements booked through responsibletravel.com - they were the highlights and we'll definitely be looking through your catalogues again.

I stayed the first night at this accommodation - people friendly and helpful - gardens nice to explore and for those of you who want a pool they have one in a nice setting and lovely library of books. Did not experience any of their excursions so cannot comment other than it was a quiet place well away from the busy beaches and would be nice to return to at the end of the day at the beach.
