Iceland holiday accommodation, independent reviews

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Taking in the amazing Icelandic countryside in Snaefellsness - hiking around the glacier in the morning and then spending the afternoon watching the weather across the beach from a nearby hotel where we ate cake and drank coffee. Then meandering back to the cottage for a hot tub in the rain.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Take enough cold and wet weather gear including scarves and gloves. We had a couple of really chilly wet days in August with driving rain so it is essential to feel comfortable. Despite this weather, Iceland was magical.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
We rented a cottage attached to the hotel which was owned by a local family which made up the year-round population of 15! Although we brought some supplies from Reykjavik, we enjoyed visiting nearby restaurants and hotels. All households in Iceland are very green using geothermal energy for heating and hot water and Icelanders do seem to look after their environment.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Great accommodation in an amazing location! Would not hesitate to recommend it and would love to go back and stay longer. There is loads to do but you cannot help but de-stress with the warm welcome and the dramatic scenery. Edda our host was great at answering our questions and the cottage was very well equipped.
