I am pleased to say that the holiday was a great success. It is difficult to pick just one memorable moment as their were a number of high points. I suppose the first high point was on the flight to Pokhara, as I got my first sight of the snow capped mountain range. Followed by watching the sunrise over the valley as it firstly turned the peaks a beautiful crimson red then it bathed the peaks and valleys of the mountain ranges in a glowing golden light.

In Chitwan it was the elephant ride where we were able to get really close to a family of bathing rhinos. I would warn people that the elephant ride can get a bit uncomfortable after a while, as the elephant motion if very jerky.

However for me the highlight was on the trek. Our first lunch stop was at a Buddhist monastery, with beautiful views over Kathmandu valley. Then before we moved on the nuns and monks were called in for prayers. To be able to sit close to them listening to their chanting, with the large drums keeping the beat and the horns and conchs coming in every so often. I managed to get a very good section on the video camera.

I could go on but I must add one more memorable moment. It was also on the trek. We were walking for some time through forests with little to see, but plenty to concentrate on as the paths were often very narrow, when suddenly we came out of the forest and there in front of us was this breathtaking panoramic view. A wide range of snow capped mountains. A view you can never capture on film and one I will never forget.

Tips for travelers – carefully read the country and trip dossiers. Be prepared for a long trip to Nepal. Abu Dabi airport, even in the early hours of they morning is far too busy to get any rest in.

Leave plenty of room in your bag for gifts to take back. There is so much you will want for yourself let alone anyone else. Don't be afraid of the food, and if you try nothing else of the local specialities, then you must try Momo's.

Take plenty of film. In fact take one more than you originally packed. If you have or can get a video camera take it. At this present moment, be prepared for tight security even in the local airports. Think about the knife you would normally take on the trek with you. They will not allow that to go on with you in your hand luggage. You may need to put your bags in the hold. At the end of the day these security measures are there for your protection, so a little delay for an increased security is worth it.
