Holiday Reviews
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same trip can have different views!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Kruger National Park was the most exciting - we saw absolutely everything there was to see - Rhino, Hippo, Lions, Elephants, Leopards, Crocodiles, Hyenas, Baboons, Water Buffalo, Impala, Wart Hogs, Kudu, Springbok and Birds too numerous to mention. And although many memories were remarkable and will stay with me many years e.g. Malealea in Lesotho, Drakensburg mountains, whale and dolphin watching in Tsitsikamma, the most memorable were our guides, Shandle and Jerry, who were "very nice" and "100% Guaranteed" to be two of the best guides you could hope or wish for.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Get a minimum zoom of 18x - I highly recommend the Panasonic FZ38 which I collected for the first time on the way to the airport, was amazingly easy to use, and made my amateur efforts into professional-looking masterpieces. DON'T bring travellers cheques - they were a nightmare to cash (some banks didn't know what they were and wouldn't cash them, other banks took 40 minutes to find the one person in the bank who knew how to process them - too painful for words...!). BRING pens, pencils, childrens books and spare clothes - the kids absolutely loved getting the pens for school and some community co-operatives ensure the books and clothes reach those that need it e.g. Malealea in Lesotho.
Maintain a flexible and relaxed attitude, smile a lot and you'll have a blast...
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Well my spending spree was certainly spread far and wide, and I think helped in a small way to support local employment, empowerment and hopefully a sense of pride that comes from earning a living (from tourism and sales). I loved meeting people and being invited into their lives and sometimes homes. I also enjoyed gaining a brief glimpse of everyday life by chatting and sharing jokes, and ultimately breaking down some barriers arising from historical grievances and conflicts, particularly those that involve skin colour. As for the impact on the environment, we were reminded regularly about water shortages and never left any rubbish behind. However, considering the amount of waste glass and tins we generated, it seems a shame that there was no recycling attempts made during our trip (although maybe the blame should be directed towards current lack of segregation of waste recyclables in any of the campsites or lodges we visited - not a national focus yet I believe).
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
This was a fantastic, unmissable, memorable holiday. Frequently the schedule was hectic and rarely the mileage travelled was overwhelming, but the scenery, lodgings, campsites, food, craic and our amazingly good natured guides never ceased to surprise and impress us all, and although we started as strangers, we certainly felt like family after our colourful times together. I can't wait to meet up with the members of my travelling 'family' including Shandle and Jerry, for another great trip in the not too distant future (I hope) - I hear Botswana calling...!!!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The whole holiday was an amazing assault on your senses, especially sight; there was so much to look at that not once were we bored and all our magazines and crossword books came home untouched! Can't begin to choose one thing, everything was just stunning.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Make sure you go!
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
I would certainly feel that our holiday benefited locals in many different ways, I can't say how it 'minimized impacts on the environment'.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Absolutely fantastic! Our tour guide, Tony, was so organised, helpful, informative, caring and above all, fun which 'put the icing on the cake'. All the hotels, food, bus staff were all kind and helpful and all went towards making the holiday the best ever.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The most memorable part for me was Tsitsikama Storm River Gorge, this is where a lot of the activities took place and there were some brilliant walks. The best part though was camping 20ft from the sea it was stunning and very memorable.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
The best tip I could give is to take either a spare memory card if you have a digital camera or a lot of film if you don't as I came back with nearly 1000 photographs!!!
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
I do feel the tour did benefit a lot of locals as we do contribute money to them and as we were mostly camping impacts on the environment were definitely kept to a minimum.
4. Any other comments?
I would definitely rate the holiday with 5 stars it is simply the best holiday and I am definitely hoping to return! In short it was a brilliant holiday and I was very pleased with the service I received from yourselves and the operator. I would definitely recommend you and will be looking at responsible travel first when it comes to my next holiday...Thank you.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
There are too many... from a leopard walking out in front of our minibus in Kruger, the sands of St Lucia and the wonderful views of the Drakensberg Mountains.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Have your digital camera or SLR at the ready. If on a cabin tour you do not need to take your sleeping bag. During the winter months take a warm fleece for the evenings.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Yes.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Fantastic...! No other words can describe it.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
I think every single day was exciting as we travelled to so many places: it was several holidays into one! But if we need one highlight it would be the night game drive in the Kruger Park when we saw all big 5 that evening!
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
The nights can be quite cold so make sure you bring many jumpers and a warm sleeping bag!
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
I think so. We tried to use the services of the local people as much as we could whilst we were there, for example for the laundry.
