Holiday Reviews
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same trip can have different views!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Getting a sense of the rhythm of daily life in Chinese villages combined with walking in really beautiful countryside. Both parts of our trip: around Lijiang and then in Xishuangbanna benefited from excellent guides.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Be flexible and go with the flow! Lower your hygiene standards.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
it definitely benefited local people and put money into the local economy. For much of the trip we were on foot and so had minimal impact.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Really good - the company was endlessly obliging in fixing up what we wanted in advance and a lot of complex travel arrangements worked very well.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
I was able to follow by foot for 3.5 weeks a 450km route cross country that my grandfather took in 1942 when escaping from the Japanese
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
It is very unlikely that anyone other than people in my direct family would want to do this trip, but the advice would be ensure that the operators took more trouble to ensure that bedrooms although very much off the beaten track were at least clean and warm.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Yes. We hired local guides and drivers, stayed in very basic/local inns and ate in local restaurants.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
A once in a lifetime opportunity to do something which required a lot of planning, time and money. I was lucky to find a company to take on the project and devote so much care to ensuring that we did things properly.
