1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

I'm still buzzing from all the excitement of what we managed to see! I would never have believed the thrill of watching 10 Great bustards doing a fly past, or spotting huge Imperial eagles soaring high above the plain, or early morning in the woods with woodpeckers, or seeing a long-legged buzzard take off, or being eye to eye with long-eared owls, or ... well! Where to stop? Amazing memories!

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Be prepared for the weather. It was very hot at the end of July! The hotel has a pool.
Try the local soups! Visit the town of Eger. See the library ceiling and the Pelots museum. Don't be put off by a birdwatching holiday that you think might be too intense. I am a novice and was encouraged and helped all the way by Roy who was a simply wonderful and knowledgeable guide. He caters for the birders at both ends of the spectrum!

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

There were lots of benefits, especially as we were using a locally run hotel and lunch was at a variety of small restaurants. The locally grown produce and wine from the nearby cellars was particularly good! The market in Eger had some good honey and wickerwork. I enjoyed the time I spent walking through the lovely town of Eger and the small but beautifully formed Pelots museum near the castle is a must see if you are interested in local social village history. It was amazing how much you can learn from the charming lady who looked after the museum with arm-waving, a smattering of German, lots of pointing and smiling and no knowledge of Hungarian!

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

This was a new adventure for me! A different type of holiday that proved to be a huge success! Tiring in the heat but well worth the effort! Thanks go to Roy and Deana for their personal touch that I so appreciated.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

I had never been on a birdwatching holiday before. I enjoyed every minute of it. Saw some spectacular birds. Roy Adams is a very good guide and helped us recognise bird flights/calls/habitat. The hotel was good we had a large comfortable room and very large bathroom. The food in the restaurant was of a very good standard. Staff were helpful and spoke good English which was good as we spoke no Hungarian... The local town of Eger is also well worth a visit. It has large thermal swimming pools and a very pleasant town centre.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Be prepared for changeable weather. We were there May 9th for a week and the weather was very hot one day and really chilly the next. Learn a little bit of the language. Try the local food.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

Yes. We visited a local restaurant one night (food was fantastic) and used all local services.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Excellent.
