Holiday Reviews
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same trip can have different views!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
I'm pleased to say almost all of it. I wrote a lengthy description on the blog which I hope gives more of a flavour of the emotions too. To see dolphins in their natural environment is a wonderful experience, and the learning and understanding I gained from the amazing, passionate and friendly team made it complete. I also learned a lot about research - the value it can have and why discipline is important in field work - I'm sure I was taught this at school many years ago, but this trip brought it all to life for me. For someone who spends far too much of their time in an office, driving a desk this holiday was the most refreshing and energising thing I've done in a long time.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
The instructions given by the operator are really really good - follow the instructions and you wont go wrong. This is not a touristy dolphin watching holiday so don't expect to be entertained as you would at a holiday camp. As long as you are willing to join in and respect the fact that you are with people at work then you will have a fantastic time - the people are amazing, the island is lovely and the dolphins are beautiful - if you are happy to be a part of their team and join in you will love it.
Getting there - check in advance which busses are running from Athens that day - I ended up having to get a taxi from Messalonggi - not the end of the world, but not the easiest either. The bus station in Athens is also out of the centre of town and not the easiest to get to. Take a Lonely Planet or Rough Guide book if you want to spend any time in Athens on the way as its not the easiest city to get around.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Absolutely - the people you are living and researching with are very concerned for the environment in a pragmatic and non-preachy kind of way. Everything is handled sensibly and they care about the effect they have on their surroundings. I hope the results of the research will show the world that the damage that over fishing and unsustainable fishing can have on the environment and on the local artisan fishermen should be controlled and can be reversed. I learned that in a week, so I'm sure governments and authorities can be persuaded too…
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Simply wonderful. Like watching the best nature programme on TV, and realising that you are a part of it, and that you can ask questions too. An amazing week. Thank you.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
It's an incredible privilege to see dolphins in their natural environment.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
This is a break from what you normally do, but do consider why you're doing it - it's quite hard work! Early starts, long periods concentrating in the sun. Having said that, it's absolutely brilliant - the operator guys are excellent and it's a really worthwhile project.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Greece makes a big thing of having dolphins - this project is a major contributing factor in making sure that dolphins remain in the area. The benefit is enormous.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Fantastic experience - I really enjoyed it.
