Kangaroo Valley accommodation, independent reviews

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

This accommodation was the third stop on our Australian honeymoon. We stayed in the Jolly Jumbock honeymoon cottage. It was wonderful! My favourite part was the verandah at night with the pond providing a lovely noisy backdrop (lots of frogs and nocturnal noises!). The next best bit (accommodation-wise) was the bathroom. It's pretty to have a large, jacuzzi bath which looks out over the meadows and pond. I also loved the goodies left in the hamper, the afternoon tea cakes and the port! Giving scraps to the chickens was fun. Kangaroo Valley itself is beautiful and peaceful. I recommend the horse-riding. Going up the steep slopes and back down into the valley on 'Iron Mike' and 'Kiwi' was brilliant.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Our one regret was not hiring a canoe -it would have been great. Also we kept forgetting that most of the restaurants have a 'bring your own' wine policy which we kept forgetting about. It wasn't much of a problem, we just went down to the 'Friendly Inn' and picked up a bottle.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

Absolutely. We ate out (apart from using our breakfast hamper goodies in the morning) and shopped in the local galleries and craft shops... and the water in the accommodation is from their own catchment system.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Fantastic.
