Holiday Reviews

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same trip can have different views!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The most memorable would have to be sitting outside the apartment in the evening, looking out onto the hills and soaking up the peace and tranquillity. The beaches around Cabo de Gata came a close second.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Make the trip to Cabo de Gata, it is certainly worth it.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

The facilities in the apartment were so good that we didn't travel for meals, we simply either ate in or dined at one of the local restaurants. Lovely food on the doorstep.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

8/10 for pure relaxation value.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The wild landscape around the house was memorable. The house is well fitted in the environment, comfortable and the external patios allow you to find fresh shadow (if you want) all day long. The place is very quiet and relaxing. The small village close to the house allow you to get the feeling of the Andalusia’s lifestyle.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Although the house is somehow "protected" from the touristic localities, it is possible to reach easily very famous places in Andalusia. Our suggestion are to visit Granada (remember to book the ticket for Alhambra in advance), the lighthouse at Capo de Gata and the "alcazaba" in Almeria.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

We think that the impact on the environment was very low, but we believe that the holiday benefited local people only marginally.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Beautiful and, somehow, unexpected.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The tranquillity and atmosphere of Lubrin. With the weather unusually wet it was still relaxing and interesting.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Be prepared for the bendy drive up into the hills, the scenery makes it worth while and the welcome when you arrive.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

Without tourism and the influx of non locals I think the village would fall into decline.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

8 out of 10 due to weather.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Memories of tranquillity, simplicity and space. Seeing stars clearly at night. Flamingos at Cabo de Gata. Friendly local people.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Take binoculars and a bird guidebook. Enjoy the pace of life in the village.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

Local village with shops, bars, restaurants and a weekly market only a few minutes walk away - everything that was required with no need to travel miles to large supermarkets. Accommodation was in a renovated farmhouse & locals employed for cleaning etc. A local mechanic and taxi driver were also used by us (unplanned!)

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Very enjoyable and relaxing and just what we were looking for. Comfortable, homely accommodation with friendly welcome and helpful hosts.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

We arrived at night and when we opened the shutters in the morning the views all around were breathtaking. Driving around in the mountains was very exciting and the lovely deserted beaches great in the day. Seeing a wild boar on a walk to a neighbouring village was very thrilling.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Hire a car and travel around visiting the deserted coves and beaches and then return late afternoon to the spectacular location. Ensure that you eat breakfast when looking out over the hills. The village has all you need including a taxis for late night village hoping. Both restaurants in the village were great and the place very friendly

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

The holiday benefited the local people as the owners recommended local markets, shops and restaurants.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

A trip to Grenada; only 2hrs 30mins away - a day trip!

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Take more books. It's a very quiet location. Have a least a basic grasp of Spanish - very little spoken in the hostelries.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

We ate locally and bought from the local supermarket.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Very affable hosts in John and Meyer. A good very quiet holiday. Weather splendid all week, put us off walking in daytime; although there were several routes provided by host.
