Holiday Reviews
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same trip can have different views!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The cafe on site is absolutely fantastic - we had a lovely meal there. Also the scenery on the island, seen from the seat of a bicycle was a big highlight.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Bring plenty of warm clothes - don't think that hats and woolly socks are unnecessary in the summer - it gets cold sitting around in the evenings.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
The owners were very helpful in sorting out bicycle hire for us with a local company so benefiting the environment and local business. The owners have designed the campsite to be super eco friendly with compost toilets and one solar heated shower. All the washing products and toiletries are eco-friendly too. Lights are solar powered, as well as a mobile phone charger. It's clear that the owners have done their best to think of the environmental impact of everything.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Great fun, comfy and cosy yurts, delicious food.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Making our own wood fires inside the Yurt, and having access to our own barbecue.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Hire bikes and visit the garlic farm at Newchurch.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Yes, although I am not sure of the environmental credentials of wood burning fires. The fuel may be semi-sustainable but it releases plenty of carbon into the atmosphere all the same.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
We had a great time, was lovely for a long weekend coming from London although we would have happily stayed a week. We plan to return.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Comfort of the yurts, outdoor experience - cooking on fires etc.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Expect a true environmental experience. The local shop is lovely and all organic, we used it some of the time but financially couldn't use it all the time. Go without a car and get to know the buses early on, the local service is very good. A bit of a walk to the local supermarket though.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Yes. Very environmentally friendly, a great deal of consideration given to these aspects and a learning experience for myself.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
I had a wonderful holiday. I like to outdoor experience and this holiday gave this without the discomfort of camping. My husband didn't enjoy it as much, he didn't like some of the aspects of sharing communal facilities and the toilets had restricted space - the people running the camp are going to address this for next year.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Arrival when we found our beautifully decorated yurt in a really tranquil setting.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Be prepared for wet weather as there are very limited facilities for this.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
We shopped locally and used the local ferry service, so this would have benefited local people. The facilities on the site were geared to minimise the impact on the environment but the environmentally friendly facilities for cooking need improvement as a lot of fuel was used just to make a cup of tea!
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
A lovely relaxing break, particularly as we were lucky with the weather.

Thanks for your comments, we are glad you would recommend us to your friends. We note your comments about wet weather and fuel and would just say that we do provide the Bazaar tent as a communal leisure space for use at any time so guests are not confined to their yurt or bell tent and the gazebo offers undercover, if occasionally windy, outdoor cooking facilities. We do also provide lots of information on activities suited to wet weather in the area. As far as fuel is concerned we thought long and hard about this and, having decided not to provide mains electricity, we believe that using wood from sustainable resources backed up by the Calor barbeque offers the best compromise. We do try to ensure that hot water, particularly in the early mornings, is heated on the minimum number of fires in order to conserve fuel. We are always looking to improve our offer and will consider whether we can make positive changes. We have already placed more books and games on site.
