Holiday Reviews

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same trip can have different views!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Seeing the first iceberg

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Take a telescopic walking stick and forget the pack of cards

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

I suppose the trip benefited the people of Stanley, Grytviken and the Argentinean Research station Orcadas (where are the postcards we posted there?!) We felt the organisers of our trip were very conscious of the impact we 107 bodies might have on the environment but, although we knew there must have been other visitors not too long before us, we never saw any traces of them.

4. Any other comments?

Our original choice was for a Superior or Superior Plus Cabin but we were offered the Suite and thought it would be preferable. However, we were not informed that the double bed was miniscule and so we were forced to sleep one in that and one on the sofa bed which was very disappointing. It is no fun being on the most expensive holiday of one's life in separate rooms. While on board, we looked at both the Superior and Superior Plus cabins and we would have been much happier in those. Our Suite did not have the TV/VCR advertised in your brochure and, in spite of asking several times to be provided with one, one was not forthcoming. Our wash basin also did not even have a plug.

Read the operator's response here:

I am glad to hear you enjoyed your recent voyage to Antarctica with us. I particularly enjoyed reading your positive endorsement of our philosophy of minimum impact travel.

You make a few comments regarding your cabin, which I would like to reply to. The double beds in the Suites are 120cms wide so I agree this maybe a little too cosy for some people's liking. If this is the case the ship's crew will always make up and take down the sofa bed for you - I trust this was done on your behalf. I am sorry to hear there was no TV/VCR in your cabin and I would like to offer you a 10% discount voucher to be used against any future booking with us to compensate for this. I am also surprised to hear that your wash basin did not have a plug. Again please accept our apologies for this and I trust that by speaking with our staff on board you managed to get a replacement.

Many thanks for your feedback and we hope to see you on a trip with us again in the near future.
