Holiday Reviews

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same trip can have different views!

Thai hill tribe trek, independent reviews

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Too many - but staying in such basic accommodation and meeting the tribal people. Also the bamboo rafting. Our guide and porter were both brilliant and added such a lot to our enjoyment.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

We felt there was too little walking as we thought we were going on a trek, but many of our fellow trekkers found it challenging. It didn't meet the criteria in the trip notes, but that maybe just as well for the level of fitness of the group - ensure fitness before trekking, (but this is always a tricky one to assess and it only detracted slightly from our overall enjoyment. We realise it's one of the 'drawbacks' of trekking with a group, but the advantages far out weigh the disadvantages).

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

I hope so as we spent a lot trying to buy from as many as we could - a mistake with hindsight as those we didn't buy from felt left out and told us in no uncertain terms!! Tip - choose only one or two ladies to buy from. As a group we tried very hard to have minimum impact on the environment - hope we achieved it.

We're looking forward to our next trek and will definitely check out 'responsibletravel.com' first - a very well run trip. Thanks to all who were involved.
