Holiday Reviews

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same trip can have different views!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The two main memories are 1) the whole adventure in Wadi Rum from entering on camel, sleeping overnight in a Bedouin tent and the following days Jeep safari - even after being woken by wild camels nearly trampling down our tent, and 2) the spectacular Lost City of Petra which left us with jaw ache as each new sight was even more jaw droppingly spectacular than the previous one.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Definitely make the climb up to the monastery in Petra - worth the climb for its magnificence and the spectacular views. Unless you’re going in winter I wouldn't bother with sleeping bags for the camp the blankets and sheets provided were adequate enough.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

By using local hotels and guides I think we benefited the local economy rather than big multinationals. As for the environment although we were particularly careful over waste I don’t think the locals have grasped this yet as the one negative image of Jordan was the amount of rubbish left by the roadside and left free to blow across the landscape.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

A brilliant holiday which both the adults and children thoroughly enjoyed. A well organised tour, helped by a good guide and a good group of families from which we have all made some new friends. We are already looking at where we can go next year!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

This holiday was one of many senses, sights and sounds. Too many to pick a favourite. However it was just wonderful to experience cities, mountains, towns and seas all in one trip.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Pack light, but for all kinds of weather if travelling in winter.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

We certainly felt that we got to view and experience some of the local life, and certainly felt that our contributions to local drivers and co-operatives benefited those we met, and not some investor offshore.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

This trip delivered everything we wanted, adventure, relaxation, new experiences - without having to think too much after a busy year, thanks to our wonderful guide.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Riding a camel through Wadi Rum at Sunset and arriving at our campsite in the middle of nowhere! My husband says his was "floating in the Dead Sea".

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

You will need about 800 dinahs spending money for the whole trip for drinks/lunches/dinners/souvenirs for a family of 4. Take a comprehensive first aid and medical kit.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

Absolutely!

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Overall it was fantastic. Everyday was something new and different. My boys (aged 9 and 11) were never bored even when we visited ruins. Our guide always made it interesting for the kids.

We had a wonderful time and we all felt that this was the best holiday ever. Our guide Naieem made the trip and we have come back refreshed and full of stories and photos to show friends.

Good but could have been better if our Guide was committed to giving us accurate information, and stayed with us. He left us to sort ourselves out for the last 20 hours!

Our company prides itself on the high quality of our local group leaders and guides. We feel they give an unrivalled insight into local culture that someone who isn’t native to the country simply cannot provide. This is also in line with our Responsible Travel policy of trying to keep as much money as possible in the country visited and provide employment locally. The local leaders we use are carefully selected and trained according to our guidelines. They all receive a copy of an instruction manual, written by experienced ex-leaders and travel industry staff at our company, prior to running our trips. This contains information, tips and guidance on what we expect from them and emphasises our high standards, including delivering information briefings. We will reiterate this to our leaders in Jordan and, from hereon in, you can be assured that all leaders in Jordan will be with the group until the very last minute.
