Holiday Reviews
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same trip can have different views!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Camping in the Sahara under the stars with no man-mad noise or light to interrupt the experience.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Take lots of baby wipes for camping in the Sahara and layers of clothes for when it gets cooler in the evenings.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
We were clearly told how to minimise our environmental impact whilst staying in the Sahara.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
The holiday was fantastic and the tour operator are an excellent adventurer holiday company. The knowledge and experience of their guides made the trip a wonderfully fun, unforgettable experience and I look forward to using them again.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
So many! The Sahara was the highlight - the intense glowing blue sky during the day over pink dunes and alien landscapes; the phenomenal number of stars at night; sleeping outside watching the sunrise over the Akakus and sunset over the dunes; but best of all sitting around the campfire at night with the drivers laughing, smoking apple tobacco, drinking chai and munching on coal-cooked traditional tamashak bread with dried camel meat.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Relax and just enjoy being in such an amazing place. Don't expect tightly-run schedules and everything going according to a strict plan. Be flexible.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Difficult to say - hopefully benefited local people economically; rubbish cleared from each camp site and this operator's tour leaders gave advice on how to leave as little impact on the environment as possible.
4. Any other comments?
Star rating: ******

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Night time in the desert under a full moon. Total silence.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Libya is a welcoming country. A lot of English is spoken but attempts at Arabic go down very well!
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Yes - local guides were used, and a very responsible attitude was taken to rubbish etc. However 4x4's in the desert could never be described as a good idea for the environment.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Wonderful.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The genuine friendliness of the Libyan people, particularly in Tripoli. A great opportunity to see a part of the world that has been 'off-limits' and therefore, as yet untainted by the negative effects of mass tourism.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Take a good torch and plenty of loo paper!
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
It benefited local people by providing employment as guides, drivers, cooks. But, sadly, by criss-crossing the desert in 4x4 vehicles, the environment took a hammering.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
A fast paced and varied combination of culture and adventure with a friendly group and excellent guides.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Camping in the Akakus region of Lybia was amazing, the 4x4 drivers were the most friendly and helpful people. The scenery was breathtaking, the landscape vast and the stars at night were so clear. It was the best part of the 9 days. Overall the diversity of the holiday ensured each day was so different. Enjoyed it all!!
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
As always, bring half the clothes you think you need!!! Be open to the experience of it all, city, Roman ruins, desert, there's something for everyone. Haggle with a smile!!! Learn a few words in Arabic, French or Italian.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
The drivers and our guide were local and had great knowledge of the region. Apart from tyre tracks you would never have known we were there. The Touareg jewellery sellers at the Ubari lakes benefited extremely well!!
4. Any other comments?
**** 1/2 , Loads of stories and didn't hesitate to recommend!!!!
