Holiday Reviews
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same trip can have different views!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
I shall always remember vomiting all night at the stilt village at Ganvie in a room with a bathroom that had no water at all! But I loved meeting the people and seeing remote villages that had never had a visitor. The markets were fun and the little goats and sheep were so cute, though not when they're strapped to the roof of the car, bleating in anticipation of being eaten for supper. I remember the doctor's centre with 3 packs of rubber gloves and a pair of scales and the crowd of children who came to see us. They were so excited at seeing themselves on the camera screen.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Take Nivea cleansing wipes to clean the vital bits ,as you won't be able to wash properly. It was bitterly cold in the Sahel; take a really warm jacket. You can buy very cheap camping torches in the petrol stations. The are big and light and you can either stand them up on the floor of the tent or hang it from the hook. Also good when eating dinner in the dark. If you don't like beer or fizzy drinks there is nothing except tepid water, no fruit juice. You can buy powders to add which make the water nicer to drink. Take at least 200euros spending money. We took 150 euro and used it all on bottled water and a very few souvenirs.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Yes, very much so.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Really tough. My partner and I are very experienced travellers but found three nights bush camping in a different place each night followed by an overnight flight home very hard. The experiences were very good but we wouldn't ever want that type of trip again.
