Holiday Reviews

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same trip can have different views!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The bit that was most different from previous holidays was seeing lemurs and other creatures in the rainforests. However we also enjoyed swimming and snorkelling in the Indian Ocean and staying in a stunning beach-side hotel.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Go in June - the weather is nice (25C by day, down to 4C at night) and there are almost no tourists.

An electric plug-in mosquito repeller is useful - there are power points at most of the stops. Take plenty of Euros (say 400 for 2 people) to exchange for Ariary at the Madagascar airport. Take bags of sweets or other high energy foods to help you in the rainforest treks.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

We were of course putting money into the local economies, so yes I imagine it did help them. Transport was non-air conditioned and sensibly sized. We didn't feed any wild animals.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

4.5 stars. Excellent balance between trekking & relaxing. Trip guide (Klaus Heimer) was superb - we'd only have seen or understood a fraction of what we did if he hadn't been there. The local guides were uncannily good at spotting the wildlife like lemurs and chameleons.

Extremely enjoyable.
