1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Quite simply everything! Not a day went by without something memorable happening, anything from eating a delicious meal, discovering yet another stunning beach, teaching children how to play hop scotch which we had just painted in their playground, to snorkelling, to meeting friendly locals, to enjoying the good company of our tour guides and fellow travellers.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Don't over pack as washing can be done in a number of places. Remember mosquito repellent and a reusable water bottle.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Yes, some accommodation is run by locals and uses solar panels to heat water. We assisted at a local primary school where our work was clearly appreciated. The planting and weeding provides longer term benefits to the conservation area. Food eaten is sourced or made locally.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
This was a really special holiday. Not your average holiday to Mauritius and one not experienced by those staying in the resorts on the island. If you are looking for a holiday on a beautiful island, where you experience local cultures, foods and see many varied sights, and yet have time to help the local communities and have plenty of relaxation time on the many beaches, then this holiday and community projects tour is the one for you. Enjoy...

The whole thing. It was like going to my country and having some one very close to me taking me everywhere and living as one of the locals in a way. We were invited to 2 Hindu weddings and to be part of it was a nice experience.

Yes it benefits local people when we stay at guest houses.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The trip was packed with memorable experiences, seeing sunrise on Lion Mountain, experiencing Sega dancing, climbing Le Pouce, dancing the night away in Grand Baie, eating traditional Mauritian food and of course the beaches.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Make sure you try the snacks that are on offer in the markets and at the beaches and bring plenty of batteries for your camera - there is a something to photograph around every corner.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Definitely, we stayed in locally run guesthouses one of which used solar showers, helped with a beach clean up, planted indigenous seedlings and helped out in a local school. The use of plastic bottles is kept to a minimum through being able to refill water bottles and bottles were saved for recycling.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Awesome! I saw the true beauty of Mauritius and got a real insight into the culture and people, I would highly recommend anyone to book this trip.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
There were so many great things that we did, climbing the mountain as the sun rose, seeing wild Mauritian Kestrel, planting mango trees on Lion Mountain. Snorkelling at Blue Bay was AMAZING, there was a huge reef made of branching corals with loads of fish.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
If you can Scuba Dive remember to bring your C-Card as there is great diving around the islands. Also email and ask about which Hindu festivals are happening while you are there. When I was in Mauritius in March there was one of the main festivals and I was able to join in with a local family which was an amazing experience.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
The trip itself was very sustainably run, one of the guest houses I stayed in used solar heating, others used power generated from burning waste sugar cane material. While I was there as well as being involved in forest replantation on Lion Mountain I also was involved in Beach and Reef clean ups. While we were removing plastic bags and other nondegradable items from the beaches and reefs a lot of the local people were asking us about why we were doing this and why it was important not to allow the seas around Mauritius to become polluted.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
It was great, I would really recommend this trip for it is a unique way of experiencing the whole of Mauritius and its culture which cannot be done any other way.
