Basil's Bar on Mustique Mustique lies 28 kilometres from St Vincent. It is 2.4 kilometres wide and 5 kilometres long with rolling hills and small valleys surrounded by white sand beaches and coral reefs.

Mustique is a privately owned island that has long been the Caribbean hideaway for many of the world's most rich and famous people.

Development is strictly controlled with careful attention paid to preserving its natural beauty and charm.

Palms on approach to a Mustique beach The company takes its environmental stewardship very seriously and its control extends 300 meters offshore, ensuring the island's coral reefs are in particularly good condition. Jet Skis and spear guns are not permitted.

There are several well-maintained nature walks through the wooded interior of the island together with horse riding trails.

The year-round local population of around 500 people live mainly in three small settlements, Britannia Bay, Dover and Lovell.
