How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
Our main aim is to work with nature. We are custodians of our environment and are entrusted with its future. Environmental education is achievable through ecotourism. By adhering to this policy we can minimize our impact on the environment. We educate guests on the proper conduct whilst viewing wildlife. Safe distances are kept from all native fauna to ensure the animal does not feel threatened. Each species is different but it must be understood that to observe an animal’s true behavior you must watch it without the animal knowing of your presence. We use binoculars to help keep this safe distance.
We use the most efficient modes of transport. Waste is minimized and we reuse and recycle. Our office is at home where passive solar designs have been employed to reduce our need for heating. We have solar hot water and solar electricity which feed back into the grid.
Community
Our tours are experience based and run from half a day to one week. We operate in remote locations which make it necessary to stay locally. By providing quality nature based activities in our local environment, we ensure our guests stay in the area for longer and return again in the future. We recommend local accommodation, restaurants, attractions and tours.
We have sourced out unique accommodation in the area which fits in with our tailored tours. We work with our guests as to what they want and find the best match possible. We have chosen the best local restaurants where food is sourced from the area and in season.
By knowing the owners of other like minded tourism businesses we have formed a great working relationship leading to cross promotion and referrals. The formation of networks is vital to the tourism industry and with this comes a stronger local community working together.
We respect all cultural and heritage sights visited. It is understood that some cultural and heritage areas are not to be visited unless with an appropriate guide. In interpreting these sights we respect cultural sensitivity and understand there are limits to our Interpretation of Aboriginal culture. We work with local Aboriginal groups to assist with our Interpretation and have formed links with the sharing of knowledge in the future. Local Aboriginal guides are employed for guests wanting cultural tours.
