How this holiday makes a difference

Environment

We subscribe to the policy of protecting the natural environment and indigenous cultural values that make much of Western Australia a natural icon. We recognise that it is vital the region be treated with integrity to preserve the reasons why people live and visit here.

We are passionate about sustainable principles and practices that can reduce our carbon footprint. From implementing power conservation, recycling, utilising biodegradable products and biodiesel fuel, composting organic waste, establishing communal vegetable gardens, worm farms and chickens, to minimal impact practices during our programs. We strongly believe small groups of people and companies can make a huge difference in the sustainability of the planet.

We challenge everyone to play their part in minimising their impact, developing sustainable practices and protecting the world for our future generations.

We use Biodiesel in work vehicles as part of the environmental protection policy. Biodiesel is biodegradable and non-toxic, and typically produces about 60% less net carbon dioxide emissions than petroleum-based diesel, as it is itself produced from atmospheric carbon dioxide via photosynthesis in plants.

The company as a whole commits to the philosophy of “Leave No Trace” both within the office and office surrounds, and during the conduct of our programs, encouraging participants to be responsible and apply low impact principals to all outdoor recreational activities.  To educate our participants and bring awareness and ownership of our business’ sustainability policies, on our activity notes we state the following:

We are an eco certified ecotourism business and subscribe to the policy of protecting the natural environment and indigenous cultural values that make much of Western Australia a natural icon and recognise that it is vital the region be treated with integrity to preserve the reasons why people go there.

Also in our 'Activity Preparation Handbook' provided to participants, we further clarify our policies and educate participants on what they can do towards sustainability practices and to understanding that we have adopted the minimal impact bushwalking ethic without which we run the very real danger of ‘loving our natural areas to death’. By learning to ‘walk softly’, we can minimise the damage to the natural environment and reduce the need for restrictions on walker numbers and track closures.

Minimal impact techniques are also used to reduce the effects that people have on the environment. Minimal impact camping allows campers to enjoy their natural surroundings without causing too much environmental degradation. It's all about caring.  This is discussed at the beginning and during activities.

Accommodation - An ideally located group campsite in the heart of Margaret River's Karri forest, only minutes from the town centre of Margaret River. Nestled amongst an old growth stand of karri and jarrah forest, it provides an ideal base for groups visiting the South-West Capes region. This lovely camp is co-located with the new Margaret River Eco Discovery Centre. It is run by the Department of Environment and Conservation.

Community

We have always believed in social responsibility and actively support the local community.
We use local suppliers of products and services as well as sourcing as much as possible, Australian made products.

Day tour/Attraction Reviews

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
