Diving day trip in the Cayman Islands
How Diving day trip in the Cayman Islands makes a difference
Environment
We are dedicated to the conservation of our reefs, corals, sponges, marine life and work tirelessly to educate people on the beauty and fragility of the underwater world. One of our biggest initiatives is controlling the numbers of the invasive lion fish that is not indigenous to our waters. This veracious predator can decimate our reef system by eating all the baby fish. With no known predator in the Caribbean, we educate divers on the lion fish, track them, research their behavior and remove them from the reef. We are Distinctive Lion Fish Instructors and teach this course regularly. We conduct regular beach clean ups and underwater clean ups along with fish identification workshops where we count the number and species of fish and give that information to organizations that track it. On board our boats, we use only green cleaning products and our engines pass the highest emission tests in the USA. We use recycled cups on all our trips and do not promote plastic water bottle use. Rather than have all our guests drive to us in their individual cars, we offer complimentary pick up in our bus form all of the hotels or condos along Seven Mile Beach to limit the emissions from multiple cars.
Community
We work hand in hand with our local Department of the Environment, providing statistics and information on the health of the reef, reporting any illegal poaching of marine life and with our Lion Fish efforts. We are a part of the Water sports Association where we work with other local water sports companies to join together to monitor our marine park, mooring system, dive 365 initiatives and conduct regular clean ups on the Ex USS Kittiwake- our newest attraction. We support local restaurants that serve only sustainable fish and grow local vegetables, artists who work within nature to create beautiful souvenirs for guests to purchase. We work with the local school system to educate and train local children about the marine environment and offer internships within the dive industry. We wrote and implemented a water sports curriculum in the Cayman Brac high school where our instructors actually taught local kids and certified them all the way up to Divemaster and then they were hired within the dive operation. We educate our guests on the marine environment, quotas for taking marine life, prevent them from taking anything off the reef, dead or alive and encourage all visitors to learn about the animals indigenous to Cayman. We are active members in the blue iguana initiative and urge all our guests to visit the Botanical Gardens and the National Trust activities.
