introduction to Sailing cruises in Norway
We are here to give to you the magnificent North Norway from the deck of one the largest sailing ships in this part of Norway – maybe also the most beautiful and definitely the most comprehensive. With us you will find the cosy, old-fashioned sailing ship feeling at the same time as you are enjoying the relatively high standard in a home-like atmosphere. If you are not totally relaxed after a couple of hours on board with us, well - then there is a storm outside!
During our voyages we will visit places - with and without people - you may not have been able to visit otherwise. The landscape between Tromsø and North Cape has probably the greatest diversity in the whole of Norway with rolling, rocky hills, alpine mountains, scanty plains and lush river valleys, fjords and sounds, islands and islets, glaciers etc, etc. All places that many people have never seen.
We will drop the anchor in hidden bays and coves, stay overnight there, ski, trek/hike, fish, get inspired for brilliant photos, experience wildlife, birds and much more. All well within the Arctic Circle and with great possibilities for Northern Lights in the winter and Midnight Sun in the summer.
Prices include: full board (3 meals, non alcoholic beverages, some fruit and snacks), lodging (fully prepared small double/twin cabins) and harbour fees.
Prices exclude: flights, beer and personal expenses if shopping! All you need to bring along are suitable clothes, personal items and wine/spirits, if you want any.
Tromsø - Honningsvåg/North Cape: 13 Jul 2010 - Our "classical" summer trip between islands, islets, mountains, bird sanctuaries, through sounds and straits, entering small fjords and hidden coves with beautiful anchorages and much more. (9 days) NKr 11,200
Honningsvåg/North Cape - Kirkenes: 23 Jul 2010 - A trip at the edge of the Northern- and Easternmost European mainland with the arctic ocean to port and the plateaus and rolling hills of the county of Finnmark to starboard. And not to forget - some of the major fjords in Norway. (9 days) NKr 11,200
Varangerfjorden round trip: 04 Aug 2010 - A trip for those of you who like "small-scale sailing", multi cultural impressions, history and smaller museums, birds, fishing, hiking and ......... maybe some beluga whales? (8 days) NKr 9,900
(Prices depend on exchange rates.)

traveller reviews for Sailing cruises in Norway
We had traditional saunas, hot-tubs, tried all the local foods, mostly prepared by our guide. We went walking, crab fishing on a restored traditional fishing boat, saw sea eagles, went to several museums learning about sami culture and the German occupation... I could go on... and even time to just sit and take it all in!

how this holiday makes a difference
|
Our primary aim is to give our guests an impression of "the not so very often seen" part of northern Norway – wildlife, fisheries, "abandoned" places and the magnificent landscape of The Norwegian North.
All our voyages are being made in complete understanding with our cultural, social and ecological surroundings. By this we mean that we shall move like a shadow through the landscape. When we have left, no one shall ever see that we were there. In an ecological context, we will do our very best to sort our litter, so that what can be recycled will be delivered in a proper place. To avoid using diesel, and thereby prevent polluting, we if possible will use the sails (but if there is no wind, this can be difficult….). Our main dishes will basically be from fish, shellfish and game (reindeer), which means that we will support local fishermen and the saami people of the North. All our other food – naturally – has to be bought in the local stores we will pass on our way. We will also harvest if we can, from the fish in the sea, rivers or small lakes to the berries on the plains. The harvesting is off course to be done with good conduct, and the main goal with it is to supply ourselves with food. Our voyages are not actively guided voyages. We want our guests to be the curious, adventurous and an active part. We are only there to make you feel well and responsible. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
