Travel guides

Dominica is quiet about its glories. In fact, this small island has a calm and quiet soul. Even though it boasts nine volcanoes, three national parks,...
The poet Derek Walcott, who came from St Lucia, said that “The Caribbean is not an idyll, not to its natives. They draw their working strength from it...

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

As much as available, our cleaning suppliers are all eco-friendly or green. During our renovation stages and upgrade, energy efficient appliances are sought after as well as low flush toilets etc. 95% of our hot water for client and daily use is solar generated. Although our property is small, we have dedicated green space for recreation and dining.
We are also over a decade + IFAW supporters and friends and Dominica has been the prototype for what is becoming to be known as Floating Classrooms (still in the pilot stage) where primary school children throughout the island are taken on the water and taught about the marine life - protecting the whales and dolphins, best water practices, effects of pollution on the marine environment. A curriculum was also developed and our staff have been trained to continue offering the on water aspect of this course.
Our local and dedicated staff are known by world renowned photographers by their ability to know and locate various species, with them being able to assist in the development of the REEF guide etc.
Our dedication to this business and to Dominica is because of our historical roots and our need and desire to continue building on structures and improving in a safe and eco-friendly way so that our children will continue speaking of the foundation that our Grandmother set for them, and we can only do this in a way that is sustainable - through education, by reducing our land fill waste, by employing people in the community and supporting community awareness and appreciation and by being a part of a movement to make this small part of the world cleaner and greener for our future generations.

Our dive, snorkel and whale and dolphin staff are from right here, the community that we are located in. Many have been with our company since a mere teenager and have grown with the Company. Their dedication is not just to the Company, but they are our partners in growing and building this community by employing them and encouraging them to grow and raise their families alongside us. Their dedication to the environment surrounding our community is what continues to protect the community and lessen many negative impacts and assist in educating and forming long tied bonds with everyone - Priests, Community Elders, and so forth.
We are located in between two other family run hotels, that serve great local and international cuisine and a stone's throw from us.
the Capital, Roseau is filled with many nook and cranny type mom & pop snackettes and restaurants.
We encourage all our guests to explore not only below but above - Dominica's above world is truly as dramatic as it's underwater world. Exploring inland is great for the soul, mind and body and reconnects us to Nature. Hiking 2 hours to a waterfall - like Victoria Falls, who finds its source water from the Boiling Lake in Laudat and jumping into the mysteriously milky water - rich from sulphur, oxides and other minerals yet cold from the vast height from which is flows is truly an amazing mind, body and soul re-awakening, that every visitor must experience at least once.
