The Hotel Madeline is committed to promoting sustainable tourism throughout
the Southwest Colorado region, through various socially responsible practices.
Additionally, our dedication extends even further by educating guests and staff on eco-friendly practices to ultimately reduce our ecological footprint on the local environment.

EcoAction Partners Verification- Having achieved significant and measurable sustainability milestones, Hotel Madeline has been awarded with both the EcoAction & Trip Advisor GreenBusiness Certification.

These requirements for verification are aligned with the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria. This verification assures the commitment of Hotel Madeline to reduce the impact of its activities on the planet and local communities.

Some of our green philosophies include:
-LED light bulb replacement project throughout parking garage and hotel
-Complete hotel annual energy audit
-Decreased electric consumption
-Decreased pollutant emissions due to replacement of old equipment
-Waste recycling & compost program
-Reusable glass bottles and mineral water system replacing bottled water service.
-Clean The World soap and shampoo international sterilization and reuse program.
-Housekeeping program shampoo conditioner bio-degradable not tested on animals, all resins are recyclable, opt out daily linen and towel service.
-Installation of low-flow plumbing fixtures throughout the hotel.
-Employee daily carpool program via van and gondola.


We not only recognise the need to support the environment, we do all that we can to be responsible and look out for our local community too. The hotel has recently adopted a section of Highway 145 just outside Telluride for bi-annual cleaning. We aim to educate and inspire members of staff and visitors about the ecology of the area by leading walks with expert guidance on local flora and fauna, interaction with our partner farmers and ranchers, photography tours with local wildlife, even historic walking tours which highlight the local commitment to the regions rich heritage and history.

We support and raise local awareness for events such as Telluride Mountain Film Festival. We also locally source food and drinks from regional farms and ranches. We have a partnership with Town Of Mountain Village Zero Waste Program. As well as providing valuable employment to local people, we also support employees further by implementing a daily carpool program via van and gondola.

We encourage guests to support regional agriculture by dining in our restaurants, and utilizing other local cultural and recreational providers which promote a healthy environment. We greatly appreciate your commitment to helping is keep Telluride pristine and sustainable.
