Description of Rural villas in Tuscany, Italy

Our accommodations are set in an old water mill, part of which dates back to the 14th century. All buildings have been carefully restored to maintain their original characteristics and charm. The setting is beautiful and quiet, at the end of a side road with no traffic, with vineyards, olive groves and a river at the end of the property. The apartments are attractive, country Tuscan in style and extremely comfortable. There are self-catering facilities in each apartment and the nearby charming small town of Loro Ciuffenna has excellent restaurants and coffee bars.

Our property is the perfect base for sightseeing. It’s equidistant from Florence, Sienna and Arezzo and is also close to several small traditional towns. You could also try hiking, trekking or biking on nearby Pratomagno Mountain, and there are tennis courts and stables nearby, as well as beautiful lakes for swimming. Or you could choose to simply relax by the pool fully immersed in the peace of the olive trees.

This is a non profit mission: all the earnings coming from our rentals go to support a local non profit association, working with disabled people who also contribute to the maintenance of our gardens, olive groves and vineyard. For this reason, everybody willing to help is more than welcome!!

Accessibility

Accessible overview:
We have partnered with Arkadia Onlus (a local non-profit association taking care of disabled people) who believe that the disabled are no less able to take part in functioning society than anyone else. As part of the partnership, we have joined them to enable young people, many with Downs Syndrome, to help in the daily work of the Molino. This will give them the opportunity to experience not only the rural activities of a small estate, but also the opportunity to help look after guests in the apartments. All rental income from the guests goes towards supporting and furthering the work of the association.
Cognitive conditions:
The environment our property is in is particularly suitable for people with cognitive issues as we are well used to working alongside people with a range of conditions. The presence of Arkadia Olus who work with young people who have cognitive difficulties means there are opportunities for all guests to participate in the activities of the estate including agricultural harvesting and care of the gardens  which our local disabled children are involved every day. Or if you would rather relax, we hope to provide you with a home away from home. Please ask us for more details.
lgbt:
We operate a policy of total absence of discrimination which makes our place a suitable place for anyone.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

Our property is part of an old building , that was originally a medieval water mill and which is locally considered of historical ineterest. For this reason every restoration is made using only premium materials in the total respect of the original ones and of the original architecture.

Our energy suppliers ensure a green policy and for our part, we recycle and we ask our guests to do that - we use the wet waste for our garden whose products are totally biological. For watering our gardens, we only use water coming from the near Ciuffenna river, flowing in our property, always trying to save water and use it carefully.

Our olive groves , the cypresses and pine trees surrounding our property are the perfect habitat for squirrels, foxes, wild boars, dormice and many types of birds. We totally respect the wildlife that is part of our enviroment and we do our best to establish a perfect cohabitation, where the habitat is preserved even though the human presence is very strong. We believe that our philosophy is appreciated by our guests who are are normally very respectful and proud to be part of that experience!

People

Our property is no profit , meaning that all the earnings coming from rentals goes to support the educational projects of a local no-profit association mainly working with disabled persons.

These people are also working on the farm, taking care of gardens, olive groves and vineyards. Together with these guys , we also collaborate with kintergardens and primary schools setting up workshops to show the children how the basic process of the agricolture works (for example how the olive oil is made) or how we can use the products coming from our garden (for example how to make a tasty fruit jam!).

In this way we wish to share with people (especially the youngest ones) that everything and everybody in this world is a precious resource. We always try to promote the riches of our land, showing our guests local restaurants, shops, street markets and historical sites which in turn helps to support the economy in our area and lets our guests discover all the aspects of our culture.
