Description of Abergavenny self catering accommodation Wales
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetOur location within minutes of the Bus and Rail Stations are our greatest asset in encouraging travellers to use public transport. Travellers are requested to turn off lights, computers and other electrical accessories at the end of the day. We are freezer friendly by reducing temperature and we clean freezer filters regularly to ensure they’re working efficiently. We post this water saving sign:
Please use the toilet appropriately. Don't flush every time. Remember;
"If it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down."
Turn the tap off while you are brushing your teeth, shaving, or washing your hands. Get wet, then turn off the water while you soap up. Turn it back on for long enough to rinse.
Take shorter showers rather than baths. Turn the water on for long enough to get your hair wet, shampoo and then turn the water on again to rinse. Same for body wash
Our local council operates a “kerbside” recycling scheme which we follow very stringently. We purchase environmentally friendly cleaning products and where possible we use a clothes line to dry linen and towels rather than a tumble dryer.
PeopleThere are a good range of shops bars and cafes in the town and we encourage our travellers to use these and support the community. The local produce is fantastic with a vast range of bread, cakes, meat, local fruit and vegetables available at the regular Tuesday all year round market.
There are many artists & craftspeople in the area and we encourage of travellers to visit the craftmarkets & artist's open studios as well as the wonderful local museums & historic sites. There are also a large number of artisan producers in the area producing natural preserves, traditional Welsh Bara Brith and Welsh cakes along with new contemporary products such as sour dough and rye breads, quality loose leaf and herbal teas from around the world, cider, Perry and apple juice and quality Welsh Wines from a local vineyard.
Mrs Vincent does 3 days a week as a shop volunteer at Marie Curie and the Salvation Army in Abergavenny town centre. We do not possess bicycles but direct travellers to rent then direct from the local cycle rental shop. Our cleaning lady is local and so is our gardener.
