PlanetWe support environmental policies of Garajonay National Park and have signed a commitment with the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (CETS). We actively participate in the forum of the Charter to raise awareness among neighbours and visitors to preserve the natural environment.
We encourage our guests to recycle paper, glass and battery and we take to a recycling point in San Sebastian de la Gomera. We prefer reusable materials, recycling and no use of one-way products. For organic material we have compost. In the rooms there is material for the reasonable consumption of water and energy. Clothing and hotel laundry is dried in the sun.
The aim of our activities is to protect the environment and preserve the natural environment, e.g. by:
- Biological sewage works – water used for watering of plants
- Water well for drinking water
- Water reservoirs in the valley – for agriculture
- Solar panels for hot water
- Drip irrigation in the garden
- Timers in the garden and stairs lights
- Low-energy lights in public areas and rooms
We are a points of information about European Charta and La Gomera. On the reception we have different Promotion material and touristic information in case guests requires more detailed information.
We send periodically to the Park our house occupation data with the characteristics and origin of the customers, as well as the impressions that they have given about their stay in the island and their point of view about the hospitality and tourism services in general.
PeopleWe inform our guests of our commitment to sustainability and environment.
The transport of the guests is with our own boat. We write an efficient and environmentally conscious plan for our boat, daily.
In our restaurant we use as far as possible our own products from the Finca and local products from the Islands. In the breakfast buffet we offer home made marmalade, goat cheese and fruits from the Finca.
We collaborate with companies belonging to the European Charter advising our guests guided tours, boat trips, restaurants and other services offered by local business, e.g. on the market of San Sebastian or the ceramic in El Cercado.
We recommend a visit to the National park Visitor Center (Centro de visitante – “Juego de bolas”) and we constantly inform guests about the best hiking trails, that are possible without a car. Our routes are chosen so that they always lead to coastal towns. There you can stop at local restaurants and taste the specialties of Gomeran kitchen, e.g. Almogrote, Gofio and wine of the Island. We provide food for walkers in our restaurant that are not packaged in plastic.
We are an accredited Organic Farm and not using poisons. There are we make regular botanic tours to explain the concept and the success of organic farming. We sell Aloe Vera and other aromatic plants to clients from our Finva. The guests can use our library with books about the Flora and Fauna from the Island.
Our staff is living on the island for a long time and is often over many years working with us.
