Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

Serenity Lodges Dominica is committed to preserving the environment. Hence we practise composting, and grow our own vegetables and fruits. Trees are preserved around the guesthouse. Guests are encouraged to conserve water in every possible way by turning off the pipes when not in use. Nearly all electrical outlets are turn off during the day, helping conserve energy. We do our best to use local materials in our building. Information is provided to the guests giving them the necessary information regarding the preservation of our environment. Printing of documents is carefully considered, and we do not encourage throwing garbage on the road side. Notice is given to our guests not to use the white towels indiscriminately since it helps us in our detergent quantity use. Guests travelling to certain sites are pleased asked to get their site passes as the revenue generated by this help conserves the environment that they are visiting.

People

Serenity Lodges Dominica also purchases vegetables and local items from our community. Locally owned restaurants are encouraged to our guest. We also encourage our guests to give donations to the local schools either by bringing items from overseas such as books, crayons, pencils etc or give monetary contributions to help promote education in our local community. Donations are also encouraged for the hospitals. Handmade crafts from the Carib Indians are encouraged to buy.
We provide information as regards our local community and our guest can enjoy their vacation in Dominica and the same time, respect the culture of the locals. Our guesthouse is locally owned hence, the local vibes is often promoted. There are local shops just a minute’s walk away - guests are encouraged to visit them and get to know the locals, who often are playing dominoes.
Training of our staff is offered both in house and sourced. The in house training is often geared at promoting our sustainable environment and doing our best to preserve such by being aware of our practices.
