As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

On this trip we spend five nights in comfortable hotels across Sicily. Where meals are included, seasonal local produce will be used where possible, including fresh fish, meats, fruits and vegetables. This is mutually beneficial for the environment and guests, as it reduces the distance in food travel miles before it is consumed and allows clients to experiment with different ingredients.
Environment & Group Size
We are very conscious of our effects on the environment and how we can reduce negative impact, therefore we operate a ‘Leave No Trace Policy’ whereby we ensure no rubbish or waste is left behind in the places we visit. To reduce the need for single plastics on this trip, guests are encouraged to pack a reusable water bottle which can be refilled throughout. This is also a small group tour, meaning that we have a low impact on the environments and communities we visit, and are able to ensure that we do not disrupt or lead to the displacement of local people.
UK Office:
It all starts at home where we work towards reducing our carbon footprint in our offices through energy conservation measures, recycling policies and the promotion of cycling and walking as a means for our staff to commute. Our head office has become a plastic-free zone with the use of plastic bottles being banned in our head office, therefore, we have distributed reusable water bottles and tote bags to every staff member. We also support a large number of community and environmental projects in different parts of the world and try to give something back to the places we visit.
The Impacts of this Trip
Community and Culture
As this is a culture-based trip, the itinerary is packed with opportunities to immerse ourselves with the very best of Sicily. With the expert knowledge of our local guide, we will take a tour in Palermo and learn about the dark Mafia history and the civil anti-mafia movement. The afternoon is free time, where guests can opt to explore the city and purchase souvenirs from local shops on the way. We encourage clients to support the work of local craftsmen, to ensure our tourism benefits local people and that we are giving back to the communities and places we visit.
In La Cala we’ll join a food tour and sample some of the regions celebrated street food, including rascatura croquette, and we’ll end the night with ice cream from a renowned gelateria. In Cefalu and Taormina, further history awaits as we visit the beautiful Cathedral and Taormina’s historic centre. An optional visit is also available to Teatro Greco – a Greek theatre with impressive views. Where possible we try and support small, local businesses as our impact is much greater. An example of how we do this is by visiting a wine cellar for tasting, and feast on local dishes for lunch on Mount Etna. We will also have the opportunity to taste some of Sicily’s best cannoli pastries and granita desserts from authentic cafes.
