Highlights
Marrakech | High Atlas Mountains | Ouarzazate | Sahara desert | Camel trekking | Berber camp | Todgha Gorge | Gorge de Dades | Aït Benhaddou | Djemâa-el-Fna | EssaouiraDescription of Morocco family holiday, souks, sand dunes & surf
Soak up Moroccan culture and traditions with a captivating tour that takes you from exotic Marrakech to a Berber camp in the sun-baked Sahara desert, from driving over the High Atlas Mountains to unwinding on a beautiful beach on Morocco’s Atlantic coast. Fascinating and fun excursions are combined with plenty of down time, making this small group tour perfect for families that want to take an adventurous holiday with their younger children.Just a few of the many highlights include spending camel trekking over sand dunes to a Berber encampment, where you’ll share a traditional meal beneath a canvas of stars; exploring the ancient Kasbahs of Aït Benhaddou, which have appeared in countless movies, and feeling dwarfed by the towering limestone walls of Todra Gorge.
Spectacular landscapes abound throughout a tour that has been carefully designed to suit families. Drive times are cut to a minimum, and there are regular opportunities to relax in air-conditioned rooms or by the swimming pool. From Marrakech it’s just a three-hour hop to Essaouira, a beautiful old fishing port where the famous coastal winds are just the thing to cool you down after the desert.
After a few days by the beach, during which you can wind surf, horse trek or watch the fishing boats head out to sea, you’ll return for a few days in Marrakech. Marrakech medina is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where camel trains unload baskets of spices, labyrinthine alleyways lead to cool courtyards and rooftop terraces, and bustling souks sell everything from musical instruments to silks and carpets.

Responsible tourism

Responsible tourism: Morocco family holiday, souks, sand dunes & surf
Environment
WasteAll our travellers are sent detailed pre-departure information upon booking their trip. This includes information on travelling responsibly and minimising their impact on the local environment. A section is devoted to minimising waste whilst travelling. Travellers are encouraged to remove unnecessary packaging from items before leaving home (recycling facilities are often more accessible in home countries) and to use either rechargeable batteries , wind-up or solar-powered electrical items-such as torches, cameras and mobile phones.
At the start of your trip your Tour Leader will also remind the group of the importance of disposing of waste appropriately.
Suppliers
Our local Moroccan operator is a key player in the Ait Ouhem Association for Development, a local, community-led organisation in the Atlas Mountains. For every Moroccan tour booked we donate £5 per passenger to help the Association achieve its goals which includes reforestation in the mountains around the village to try and limit further soil erosion.
Community
Volunteering and CharityWe are proud to be working with the Ait Ouhem Association for Development, a local, community-led organisation in the Atlas Mountains. For every Moroccan tour booked we donate £5 per passenger to help the Association achieve its goals of:
1. Building a dispensary in the village to provide people with at least emergency first aid medical supplies. (The nearest hospital is 70 km away).
2. To provide houses with tap water.
3. Encouraging students of the village to continue their studies through buying necessary materials such as bags, books, books, pens.
4. To plant different trees in the mountains all around the village to stop or at least limit erosion.
5. Creating a textile cooperative for women so that they can earn a living that is otherwise not available to them.
Friends and Neighbours
We are very keen generally, that the income from our trips is dispersed as widely as possible within the local community and goes to small local service providers and not multi-nationals. All the accommodation and restaurants we use on our trip are small locally-run establishments and all our guides are local Moroccans.
