Arctic cruise holidays

Carbon reduction

Your holiday will help support local people and conservation. We must also reduce CO2. Learn about the CO2 emissions of this holiday and how to reduce them.

Environment

Our Arctic ship operators share our commitment to sustainable practices and realize that their every action impacts the planet. Especially since the ocean waters of the world are so interconnected, these companies must seriously take into account their environmental responsibilities. All of our Arctic voyages are on small ships ensuring personalized service for passengers as well as staying consistent with the concept of conscientious travel. Cleaner fuels are utilized, waste is managed responsibly, marine environmental protocols are met, and the utmost respect of wildlife is practiced. This allows an intimate experience in the Arctic without compromising our promise to operate as sustainably as possible.

The ship operators we partner with have marine naturalists and other ecosystem experts traveling alongside passengers to impart their knowledge throughout the voyage. This allows a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Arctic waters in which our voyages journey. Our travelers leave the Arctic with experiences of a lifetime as well as a better education on the region they explored.

Community

The ships we use employ local guides for in-port activities when feasible, as well as visit local Inuit villages along the way depending on the cruise route to support those communities through tourism spending. Our Arctic land tour options employ local Inuit guides as full expedition staff and they assist on every leg of the journey. Care is given to ensure a positive impact is created by the presence of tourists in these small fishing communities along the coastline.

On a local office level, we care about the community of Missoula, Montana and we are very conscious of the impact an office – even our small office – potentially has on the environment. Conservation in our hometown is just as important to us as preserving the destinations to which we travel. Our staff members are encouraged to bike, walk, ride the public bus, or car pool to the office. In fact, we have won our city-wide commuter challenge this year yet again!

Residents of big cities might be surprised to learn that Missoula’s local sanitation company only recycles a few select items for the public. Since we have higher personal standards, private recycling services are paid for to collect all of our office’s paper, plastic, cardboard, and cans. The paper used in our office is made from 100% post-consumer material, and our brochures use soy ink – an environmentally friendly alternative.
