Description of Singing holiday in Italy, Emilia Romagna

Base yourself in a beautiful country hotel for this week-long singing holiday in Italy and your voice and your spirit will feel the benefits in more ways than you can ever hope to imagine.

Emilia-Romagna provides the backdrop to your stay, featuring the inspirational conducting talents of vocal specialist Hilary Campbell.

The course will come to a thrilling finale as you take part in a public concert to highlight what you’ve learned over the course of your time away. Aside from tuition this holiday is designed to be just that, a holiday, and you can expect to socialise, relax and have fun alongside an eclectic and fun musical itinerary.

The highlights of this singing holiday in Italy include:

- Expert tuition with a leading vocal trainer
- Superb setting in the stunning Emilia-Romagna hills
- An afternoon and evening spent in the historic UNESCO World Heritage town of Ravenna
- Historic sightseeing in Bologna, gastronomic capital of Italy
- A wine tasting afternoon in a renowned local organic vineyard
- Informal performances and barbecue evening
- Final performance in a local venue

Led by award-winning choral specialist Hilary Campbell, the music for this Choral Course is a delightful mix of works by well-known composers alongside some lighter pieces. From day one the course is designed to focus your vocal techniques and have fun as you engage with music, the group and your surroundings.

What you can expect from the course:

You’ll have daily rehearsal sessions and receive feedback given by the course leader regarding all aspects of singing. One-to-one coaching sessions are also offered to all participants. Prior to the singing holiday in Italy you’ll receive access to learning materials so that you can familiarize yourself with the music you'll be learning on holiday.

Relaxing and socialising is, of course, part and parcel of the whole holiday experience with a wonderful swimming pool and beautiful surrounding area adding to a variety of afternoon excursions.

The venue for the courses is the historic Palazzo Loup, a four-star country house hotel where accommodation includes en-suite guest rooms for two occupants as well as solo rooms which are available on request at a single supplement rate. Non-singing partners are also welcome to join the holiday at a reduced rate.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

It is important to minimise our impact on the local environment for the benefit of future generations.

While at our destination we aim to use local produce wherever possible. We recycle much of our waste and keep energy usage to a minimum.

Water conservation is always a key concern and sheets and towels are washed only at the clients’ request. We also ask all clients to conserve water by taking short showers instead of baths.

When we are out and about in the countryside we encourage participants to preserve the local flora and fauna by sticking to established paths and taking all litter home with them.

In the UK we maintain a small office which minimises our use of electricity and gas. We are web-based and all correspondence is sent to clients electronically. The small amount of paper we use in the office is recycled and we rely on natural light for most of the day.

People

Our accommodation in Italy is in a hotel which employs many local people in the town of Loiano for all roles including catering, cleaning and maintenance staff. The area is less well known to tourists, and our aim is always to engage as much as possible with the local community and to allow our guests to experience the best that this fascinating region has to offer through visiting places of interest, meeting local people and tasting the local cuisine.

As far as possible, all of our food and drink is sourced from local suppliers and we prefer to use fresh, seasonal produce. The course participants are also encouraged to make use of the local shops and bars in the vicinity which will help to support the economy, vital for local businesses. There are also several artisan producers in the area and participants are encouraged to visit these and purchase items to take home, another way for our visits to help boost the local economy.

Our final concert will raise money for a local charity, and is a way of giving something back to the community who have been our hosts for the week.
