Winnipeg | Churchill | Arctic tundra | Two full days of polar bear safari | Arctic fox | Arctic hare | Cape Merry | Professional naturalist guides | Night time tundra tripDescription of Churchill polar bear tour in Canada
This fantastic classic trip, gives guests an amazing opportunity to come face to face with the magnificent polar bears, and with the climate slowly warming and the ice melting, what better time to see them! Explore the icy landscape alongside these awe inspiring creatures in our specialised tundra buggies. See the bears, white on white, in the day, watch their nocturnal activities as you navigate the Arctic by night and keep your eyes peeled when it’s clear for glimpses of the dancing Northern Lights. Taking place at a time just before the bay freezes, when the Polar Bears are eagerly awaiting the seal hunting season, the tour allows you to capture them on the tundra. Here they may be taking a snooze, sparring to kill time or looking after their cubs. Being on the tundra for a couple of days means that you can really get in touch with the bears in their natural habitat and, being curious animals, they will often approach the vehicles out of intrigue and attempt a peek through the window! Group sizes are kept small to ensure your experience is intimate and peaceful, and our knowledgeable and professional expert naturalists will ensure you don’t miss a thing!Travel Team

Bear watching specialist
Typically trips are expertly guided by a leading specialist with a good knowledge of the area to be visited. Polar Bears, Grizzly Bears and Spirit Bears are the main focus of attention however most trips also incorporate other fauna and flora highlights of the destination as well. Our trips use local guides and experts and contribute to local conservation projects whenever possible.Responsible tourism
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

Our UK operators reflect our standards abroad in that we aim to minimise our impact on the environment as much in the UK as we would do in any of our destination countries. We attempt to do this through recycling of any office waste including paper, plastic, cans, glass and refuse in partnership with the Borough of Brighton & Hove. We always do our best to use environmentally friendly and locally run accommodation and agents in each destination.
Responsible tourism is the way forward for travel in the 21st century; as we destroy more and more of our natural environment, we slowly begin to realise how much we need it. Due to human-caused climate change it is predicted that the Arctic sea ice which polar bears need to hunt will be gone within the next 50 years and polar bears could be extinct within 100 years. Unfortunately, it is not hard to find similar such examples in relation to both the other bears of the world and wildlife in general. When visiting destinations, we bear this in mind and remember how privileged we are to be able to see the wildlife and nature that you are visiting, and, in a few years, if no action is taken, the fact that it will no longer be there...
The Impacts of this Trip
The purpose of our safaris are to contribute to local populations, communities and projects and we always encourage clients to mingle with the locals, taste the local delicacies and try new experiences. The use of local guides in each destination is encouraged as we do not believe in taking jobs from local populations in order to provide for our needs. We also try to use local suppliers when it comes to provisions, accommodation and transport.

1 Reviews of Churchill polar bear tour in Canada
Reviewed on 30 Nov 2015 by Liz Green
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
From the moment we arrived in Churchill until we left!
We saw a polar bear being released from the holding facility and flown off back to the wild, mothers and cubs, young bears 'play-boxing, a large male bear falling through the thin ice and the Northern Lights.
All the staff were fantastic, particularly our wonderful free-spirited guide Leah Okin Magowan. It could not have been better!!
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Go go go!
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
The local company have worked, and continue to work, with locals to improve the all-round service and to minimise the impact. Everyone we met in Churchill was friendly and welcoming. All the staff, except the expert guide, were local Canadians.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
AMAZING!
