1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
North Uist hotel and island. Spotting an otter fishing whilst having a coffee stop.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Good introduction to travelling to western isles and using ferries.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We have a hybrid car and because many of islands have single track and are fairly flat we were able to drive on eco electric for much of the time. Speaking to staff in hotel and sharing experiences of wildlife views was interesting.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Extremely memorable.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Flying in the small propeller plane, seeing the islands beneath you and
landing on the beach at Barra.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Decide on the places you really want to visit otherwise you'll end up visiting other places and miss out something you'd really want to see.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes. We stayed in hotels, guesthouses and a croft run by local people.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
An excellent holiday. I'd highly recommend the operator. They planned a great itinerary and advised us of places to see as well as booking wonderful hotels, etc. When our ferry was delayed they quickly contacted us and booked a new sailing from another port. They saved us panicking as otherwise we could easily missed our flight home.
Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
Since 2003, we have been committed to helping our clients to ‘see Scotland differently’, and so on this trip, we take great pride in showcasing the natural beauty and rich heritage of each of these magical islands – Skye, the Uists, Harris and Lewis. One of the key highlights of this trip is the travel by ferry. The use of the ferry to cover these distances both gives employment to local ferry companies, but is also a more sustainable way to travel than by flying to the Outer Hebrides instead.
Although this is a self-drive holiday, we recommend low-carbon transport wherever possible. Alongside the ferry travel between islands, we will suggest plenty of attractions – such as the Standing Stones of Callanish on Lewis or the Old Man of Storr on Skye – that can be explored on foot, alongside many local walks that will be listed in our bespoke Robert’s Recommendations, given to each customer before their trip.
We are corporate members of the John Muir Trust, an organisation that is committed to protecting the wild land of Scotland’s highlands and islands.
People
For us, true sustainability means promoting and helping to maintain a way of life in traditional and rural communities, where the economic benefit that comes from tourism can make a genuine difference. Each of the accommodations included on this trip is locally-run, rather than being owned by large corporate organisations, and are based in the heart of local communities. Visitors will have ample opportunity to interact with local people and learn of the traditions of island life during their trip as a result. We build close, long-lasting relationships with all of our business partners, based on mutual trust and total commitment to customer satisfaction. We will never send our customers anywhere that we haven’t visited ourselves, and strive to encourage people to go off the beaten track to visit rural communities and local businesses wherever possible. To this end, each of our holiday packs include ‘Robert’s Recommendations’, our specific tips on places to visit, places to eat and places to shop locally, all of which have been researched by us.
