Your own group walking tours in Andalucia
Description of Your own group walking tours in Andalucia
This trip is subject to availability for enquiring groups
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetWherever possible we use organic fruit and vegetables grown in the village of Torrox Pueblo. We buy food from the local markets and supermarkets anfd take advantage of the best fruit that is in season here in Spain thus supporting the local agricultural community. Evening meals are taken locally in typical Spanish restaurants serving regional dishes.
We have the greatest respect for the local people and their customs and are anxious to share our knowledge of Andalucia with our guests. We take our clients to local fairs, processions and celebrations when they coincide with a holiday and we explain the background. We also provide people with a history of Torrox and the surrounding villages during our walks. We encourage our guests to speak to the local people in the village, if only to say hello.
We work in partnership with local businesses and we generate new business and work in the local economy. Guests have an opportunity to visit the local olive oil co-operative and purchase locally produced olive oil, local wine and other goods. We encourage clients to buy home-made products such as dried figs, raisins, honey, almonds and wine from housewives in the village.
Our guests stay in local village houses which have been restored by local workmen and we have been careful to ensure that these houses have retained their unique Moorish character whilst providing all necessary comforts. This helps the Pueblo retain its immense charm and encourages sustainable tourism, necessary for the growth of a healthy local economy.
We also accomodate guests in a family run hotel in the village.
During our walks our guests are encouraged to behave in an environmentally responsible manner. We stay on well marked paths and we always take our litter home with us. We do not encourage the picking of wild flowers and plants.
PeopleWe support local income generation and small business enterprises by supporting locally owned shops and restaurants. Indeed we have been told that without our custom, many of the restaurants would have to close during the winter months. We encourage the production of local crafts & produce by marketing to our customers – eg vino del terreno, pottery and ceramica, virgin olive oil, avocado oil products.
Our guests are given the opportunity to buy locally made gifts to take home.
Our guides are steeped in local knowledge and are able to show people how not to disturb local flora & fauna.
