Description of Luxury camping safari in Botswana

There is no better way to experience Africa than by camping in some of its most beautiful wild spaces, and this luxury camping safari in Botswana takes you, along with a small group of likeminded travellers and an expert guide, to the best wildlife viewing areas in the country.

Youíll head first to the Moremi Game Reserve, and camp for three nights in the Xakanaxa region, where highlights include a full day exploring waterways and lagoons by motor boat. Next itís on to the Khwai community area for two nights, where youíll discover the Khwai floodplains on game drives during the day and at night. The final five nights are spent in two different locations within Chobe National Park, where youíll explore floodplains and cruise the Chobe River, and get the chance to spot predators and large grazing herds.

This is luxury camping with en suite toilets attached to each tent; and with a logistics team accompanying you, you donít even have to put up and take down the camp. This trip runs throughout the year, although the best time for game viewing is between June and October. You can add Victoria Falls onto the beginning or end of this trip to complete the Africa experience.

Big cat specialist

Typically trips are expertly guided by a leading specialist with a good knowledge of the area to be visited. The Big Cats and other resident wildlife are the main focus of attention however most trips also incorporate other fauna and flora highlights of the destination as well. Our trips use local guides and experts and contribute to local conservation projects whenever possible.

Responsible tourism

Responsible tourism: Luxury camping safari in Botswana

On all our safaris to Botswana we employ local guides and staff thus contributing directly to the local community. Part of the tour visits the Khwai community area which is managed by the Khwai Village, with all proceeds going into the development of the village.

Our group safaris take between 9 and 12 passengers per vehicle thus minimizing the carbon emissions per tourist, compared to that of a private safari. The Hotel and Tourism Association of Botswana manage the campsites that are used for these safaris and there are very strict rules imposed regarding litter and waste disposal, with hefty fines if these rules are not adhered to. No fixed structures are used on this trip, thus minimizing the impact on the environment.

We aim to minimise our impact on the environment as much in the UK as we would do in any of our destination countries. We do this through recycling of any office waste including, paper, plastic, cans, glass, refuse, in partnership with the Borough of Brighton and Hove. The purpose of our safaris is to contribute to local populations, communities and projects. We give our travellers advice on how to interact with the local population, flora and fauna in order to minimise any negative impact. We advise people not to bargain just for the sake of it and because it is the ďthing to doĒ; you should pay what you feel the object is worth to yourself and the vendor, bearing in mind local cultures, society and standard of living.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The wildlife, the stunning location of our accommodation was truly memorable.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Go to the bushcamps! Its fab.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

During our stay, we learnt a lot about the different local projects the provider of this holiday is involved with - we thought it was quite extensive. Environmentally, the solar-powered bushcamp was definitely the most ecological of the 3 camps we stayed at.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

A truly unique experience. Great service pre-booking. Great service "on the ground" - including all transfers etc. Thank you!
