Description of Yoga holiday in Costa Rica

If you’re hoping to relax, stretch and unwind on holiday then there’s nothing better than an enjoyable week of yoga. Costa Rica is the perfect location to practise yoga with the beautiful confines of nearby Cabo Blanco National Park adding to the search for mindfulness and inner-peace.

As you’d hope from a yoga holiday, Costa Rica provides a healthy balance of holistic therapies and expert advice with an experienced teacher to help you practise at a pace that suits you in terms of relaxation, well-being and energy-restoring enlightenment.

Our environmentally-sustainable jungle lodge allows guests to socialise and explore in private gardens as well as offering access to Cabo Blanco nature reserve which blends seamlessly into the property’s perimeters.

A rich range of biodiversity can be found flanking the retreat’s extensive jungle trail which is ideal for guests to undertake either on foot or by horseback. Exploring to a panoramic vista point is the ideal way to increase energy levels outdoors with mountain peaks and undulating hillsides stretching all the way to the white sand beaches of Mal Pais and the deep blue hues of the Pacific.

With the beaches of Mal Pais just a mile away from the yoga retreat, Costa Rica has everything you need for a totally tropical holiday with the surfable swells and seaside resort facilities of Santa Teresa also an option, just a 15 minute drive away.

The yoga retreat itself features five en-suite guest rooms dotted across the hillside with convenient porches from where to sit and stare over tropical gardens where hummingbirds and butterflies flit from flower to flower. There’s also a swimming pool, waterfall Jacuzzi and a lounge/dining area with terraces and hammocks from where to relax or make use of the property’s complimentary Wi-Fi.

Yoga and meditation is practised on a purpose-built teak platform where the sounds of the rainforest accompany morning sessions before breakfast. To complement yoga practice this week in Costa Rica also features holistic therapies, spa treatments and organic products within a safe shala environment, including: massages, reflexology, aromatherapy and additional healing treatments at very affordable prices.

Finally, as part of this week-long Costa Rica yoga holiday, we also offer some amazing activities to keep you energised with jungle treks, paddle boarding, horse riding and nature tours all optional extras to enjoy alongside the calm and relaxing essence of the rainforest.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The yoga sessions on the covered jungle shala platform, with the bird songs and howler monkeys talking to each other, hummingbirds flitting about, wind in the trees, leaves falling on the metal roof. Lucy led us in traditional yoga postures and flows, and guided imagery yoga Nidra experiences each morning and one evening.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Try the stand up paddle board lessons in Mal Pais with Andy, and any of several restaurants there, or the Thai takeout delivered by motorcycle to the jungle lodge. Bring your daughter!

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes, the lodge operates with a consciousness of reducing environmental impacts and employs locals to guide hikes, and provide delicious breakfasts and some dinners with locally sourced fresh food.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
