Montenegro river rafting holiday
Description of Montenegro river rafting holiday
This five day Montenegro river rafting holiday is one for adventurers and fun lovers. It takes place on the River Tara in the northern rocky massifs of Durmitor National Park, where the fast flowing river has created one of Europe’s finest canyons. The river usually starts to become perfect for rafting around May, when the snows have melted but the rapids aren’t dangerous.
After a day to explore the UNESCO and stunning medieval town of Kotor on the coast, at the top of the eponymous fjord, we head to the mountain town of Zabljak which is at the heart of the park, and perfect base for our rafting days. Soaring through the dramatic Tara canyon, which hits dramatic depths of 1300m at some places as well as taking on many of the fifty rapid runs here, this really is an exhilarating way to spend a couple of days. We raft past waterfalls, through masses of white water and deep waves , with waters that twist and turn through boulders and drops making them all the more run to navigate. With plenty of chilled out floating and swimming time too. Or taking time on land too, hiking through and exploring the valley’s natural wonders.
Guided by expert and highly trained rafting instructors, please also note that our rafts are made of recyclable plastic. They do not cause any form of air or water pollution and they do not produce noise that could be disturbing for river life.
PlanetThis tour includes National park Durmitor and UNESCO protected Town of Kotor and Kotor Bay area. Each of them features unique environments and rich ecological values, which require corresponding attitude from visitors. Working together with our local guides and companies we will continue to support local community in effort to keep their natural beauty free of all pollution and generate enough income from sustainable tourism. By including the opportunity to visit the National Park on this holiday we choose to contribute to the excellent record of conservation in recent years through the entrance fees.
