Description of Cusco to Lake Titicaca holiday in Peru
An eight-day fully customisable tour into Peru’s cultural heartland. On a mix of guided tours you'll travel from Cusco and the iconic Incan citadel of Machu Picchu to Lake Titicaca’s welcoming indigenous communities, where traditional life has continued in the same way or centuries. This trip works equally well in reverse, starting in Puno, and finishing in Cusco.
Expert English-speaking guides will take you on group tours into the heart of the Sacred Valley to the bustling indigenous market at Pisac and will help you uncover the ingenuity of the Incan Empire at ancient Machu Picchu. They will get you closer to warm-hearted Andean communities as you travel across the sweeping Altiplano to Lake Titicaca, and help you learn more about customs and Quechua culture underpinning the peaceful, traditional way of life on Taquile Island.

On this tour you will travel on a shared tourist coach from Cusco to Puno, as well as using shared tourist transportation in the Cusco area. By travelling overland between Cusco and Puno you will enjoy the scenery and reduce the carbon footprint of a similar trip with a domestic flight.When visiting the islands on Lake Titicaca, our local operator is conscious of the importance of removing all waste that is taken in, as adequate recycling facilities do not exist on the islands, this particularly applies to plastic drinking bottles.

They organise regular events to support isolated communities in the Cusco area, including emergency relief campaigns to areas affected by flooding during the rainy season.Community based tourism is an important part of your Lake Titicaca Tour. You will meet local people and eat locally sourced and prepared food on Taquile Island. Our local operator in Puno takes great care to minimise any negative impact on local communities (such as the Uros people who you will meet on the floating Islands) and you will always be accompanied by a local guide who is from Lake Titicaca. Respectful visitors are welcomed to the islands and community based tourism is an important source of income for the people you will meet.
