Carbon reduction

Your holiday will help support local people and conservation. We must also reduce CO2. Learn about the CO2 emissions of this holiday and how to reduce them.

Environment

We will be staying in boutique accommodations, meaning that historic buildings are not destroyed to make way for modern builds, but are instead restored to their former glory. Staying in boutique hotels not only preserves the culture of different periods of a country’s history, but also reduced the environmental impact of building a completely new building. on this tour in particular, we will be staying at La Marias in Tilcara, a beautiful building which keeps in character with the local materials and cultural architecture.

We will also be using a family run guesthouse in Salta. As well as offering a range of tours, the owners organise cooking classes which you may be keen on, following a meal from the superb restaurant. Not only are we supporting the local economy, but reducing the enviornmental impact of large hotel complexes built in an area.

We attempt to reduce plastic bottle use wherever possible by promoting use of reusable and filtered water bottles. Our partnership with Water-To-Go provides a discount on filtered water bottles to our clients. We do not provide water from plastic bottles to our clients in country but always ensure there is regular access to drinking water on our tours.

Community

On Day 8 of this particular tour, we will be exploring the indigenous history of Purmamarca, known for its incredible textiles industry. We will have the opportunity to purchase hand woven fabrics made of local wool from llamas.

On day 5, you will be staying in a winery accommodation in Cafayate and sampling the local product, with a chance to buy some produce as a gift or souvenir. Cafayate has many little villages nearby populated by local winemakers and farmers, bringing tourists to their vineyards ensures a positive relationship between tourists and the local people. The wine makers have a chance to share their wine history and sell you their products.

The best way to share stories and meet new people is over a plate of great food and a drink in hand. Supporting the local textiles and wine industry in Argentina not only maintains the cultural identity of Argentina but connects cultures through the most ancient of pastimes, trading and eating!
