Northern Peru holiday, off the beaten track

Carbon reduction

Your holiday will help support local people and conservation. We must also reduce CO2. Learn about the CO2 emissions of this holiday and how to reduce them.

While the focus of Peru remains heavily on Machu Picchu, this tour showcases a lesser known and quieter side to this wonderful country. While popular landmarks are incredible to see, the environmental impact mass tourism has on them takes its toll. Northern Peru has a host of ancient sites that date back even further than the Inca period, providing fantastic history for customers who are eager to get off the tourist trail.

This itinerary visits various archaeological and ancient protected sites, including the citadel of Kuelap and the Mausoleums of Revash. Customers are asked to respect these sites and take only photos, leaving nothing behind. The entrance fees for these sites go into the conservation of them for generations to come and protecting the natural environment is something we strongly support.

As a global tour operator, we understand our role in ensuring that our tours are run in a responsible way with as little impact on the environment as possible. We ask that all our customers adhere to our responsible travel policy and switch off all electricity when not in use, dispose of all litter and waste appropriately and respect the environments which we visit. Many of the areas we visit on this itinerary are largely untouched and we wish for them to remain this way as much as possible while showcasing the beauty of Peru.

This is a tailor-made itinerary that can be customised to the customers needs.

As a specialist in travel to South America we know that all things “local” not only give our customers the best and most authentic experience possible but also provides an income to small businesses, guides and accommodation suppliers that we use. On this trip we only use suppliers local to the areas which we travel.

We work hard to maintain relationships with local suppliers to ensure that our money is going back to the local community while providing customers with the best local experiences possible. We ensure that our suppliers share the same responsible travel practices that we do and are committed to sustainable tours. Not only is using local guides better for the community, but it provides invaluable information for customers.

Most lunches and dinners on this itinerary are at your own cost and your guide will advise you on the best places to eat and get the most authentic food. We find this is the best way to fully support the areas we visit and it gives you the flexibility to eat where you want and choose where your money goes.
