PlanetAs a company: We strive to operate as a paperless company as far as possible, and recycle wherever facilities are available. We use toxic-free fair trade products whenever we can.
There are a plethora of environmental problems plaguing the islands, some stemming from the pressures of world climate changes such El Niño (ENSO), others arising from commercial fishing, and overpopulation, and many resulting from the introduction of species by humans dating back to the 1800's.
Our Galapagos boat has 6 Naturalists on board to provide information about the natural environment, the indigenous animals, bird life and sea life, and ensure the group has clear advice on how to minimise impact.
Our clients’ requirements are of primary importance to us at all times, as we know that our growth and success depend on their continued support. Having travelled extensively ourselves and witnessed first-hand how tourism can have either positive or negative effects on local communities; we vowed to always endeavor to leave a positive mark on all places we visit and send clients.
On the road: Many of the resorts and operators we work with offer our clients free drinking water refills to minimise wastage of plastic bottles through out the trips; and ask clients if they want items laundered before simply washing towels and linens unnecessarily, to conserve water.
PeopleWe endeavour to follow responsible guidelines, as with all trips.
Our group travels on the Santa Cruz, one of the few boats in the Galapagos that was exclusively built for Galapagos expeditions. The boat has been certified with the highest International Classifications: ABS (American Bureau of Shipping), IMS (International Management System for the Safe operation of Ships and for pollution prevention) and SOLAS (Safety Of Life At Sea).
This tour has been designed to both operate in a way that minimises our impact on the environment that we visit and to maximise the benefit that our clients can have on the host community.
Here the group goes to a local craft market to purchase items directly from the local artisans.
The trip visits some of the lesser known destinations in Ecuador which allows us to support local communities in areas that are not on the main tourist trail
The accommodation in Ecuador where we will be staying is focused on responsible travel, over 70% of the staff are from the local community and sources products and produce from local suppliers wherever possible.
