Responsible tourism

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

We support wildlife in our community by donating 1% of each booking to Blue World - researching dolphin organization. We have more than 400 dolphins in the area around the island of Vis, and Blue world organization track them every day. It's almost impossible to spent a day at sea without seeing dolphins, especially in spring time when the sea traffic is quieter than in summer. It's quite an experience to see wild dolphins swim around you, and we are aware how much they mean for a marine life.
We also plant our own vegetables in a completely "eco" way. Our vegetables don't contain a single drop of pesticide, just water and sun. In our vineyards it is the same situation, and the eco brand on every bottle is the evidence of hard work. Our guests are welcome to join in with watering and harvesting the grapes and vegetables every year, allowing them to see how we prepare this crop.
We organise cleaning of the beaches and underwater areas in our community. Since we are located on open sea, we have strong winter winds which brings us all sort of garbage. Every spring, volunteers are more than welcome to help us keep our beaches and underwater clean. Every year, with support of the town of Vis, we collect more than a 500 kilos of garbage in 5 different beaches in the Rukavac area. In this way, we help our island to stay clean on the land and underwater. Island Vis is one of the cleanest islands in middle Mediterranean area.

The Impacts of this Trip

Local taverns is a best way to get familiar with our way of preparing meals. With recommendation for our guests, we organize a wine and local meal tasting tours where you can see and try some of the traditional meals in Croatia.
Traveling around the world for us is the meaning of life and promoting our community, Island Vis and Croatia is very important to us. Ensuring rhe right promotion and learning how other tourist buissines work on different continents make us review our own business.
Beside keeping island clean, we support the "SVIMA" organization. In this community, kids from all over Croatia can learn about island history, old trades, how to preserve an ecology on the island, they organize all sorts of workshops around the island and we provide them a free transportation on land or sea.
For us, working with kids is always special, especially when our mission is to return young people back on the island, and to provide them any sort of decent living in this part of paradise!

1 Reviews of Vis Island family activity holiday, Croatia

5 out of 5 stars

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

WE loved Sea Kayaking and taking a private speed boat tour.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Bring waterproof shoes for the stoney beaches. There aren't shops nearby (except for bars) so make sure you're stocked up on everything you'll need and have cash. Bring a snorkel - there are lots of fish in the beaches and the water is beautifully clear.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

The money we spent was directed straight to local people. All guides were local and we ate local food either home cooked or in local restaurants with ingredients sourced from local ingredients.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

We loved our holiday, we were not keen on a group holiday because we wanted to spend time as a family and this holiday was perfect. The itinerary was all custom made for us. We chose to do one activity (usually in the morning) that was active but not too strenuous then relaxed in the afternoon at the beach or in the villa.

The home cooked food was delicious - we eat everything but it could be tailored to your diet. The island itself was absolutely beautiful and the expert local guides meant we could make the most of it but we always had time by ourselves as a family too.
The nights we ate out we were given excellent restaurant recommendations (and lifts there!). The accommodation was very comfortable - lots of space and with air conditioning and ceiling fans so it wasn't too hot.

The hosts were very welcoming and friendly - (even when our young son was tired and grumpy!) would definitely recommend.
