Description of Boutique Seychelles holiday, Praslin & La Digue

There's something everso dreamy about a holiday in the Seychelles. Maybe it's the gentle lapping of the Indian Ocean or the chance to casually watch ghost crabs side stepping over crisp white sand or fairy terns juxtaposed against a eggshell blue sky; whatever it is, this 12 day tailor made holiday is one of those dreams that's just waiting to be turned into reality.

Life maybe laid back upon the 30 inhabited islands within the Seychelles archipelago however, there's still industry to be found with fishermen bringing home the catch of the day whilst beaming kids wait expectantly against a backdrop of palm trees and pastel-coloured houses.

Cast off into the Indian Ocean and the Seychelles boasts another 85 islands without a soul in sight other than birds, such as sooty terns, frigates and boobies, ruling the roost whilst butterflies, tortoises and fuzzy faced fruit bats make the most of life on land.

Peer beneath the calm ocean waves and a whole host of marine species await with an abundance of tropical fish, sea turtles and thriving coral reefs creating a pure and simple heaven under the sea for anyone who's ever dared to don a mask and flippers.

Below is some more information related to the islands of La Digue and Praslin, including accommodation, which feature within this boutique holiday in the Seychelles, and if you're interested in finding out more, please don't hesitate to get in touch with a member of the team.

La Digue

La Digue is like stepping back in time where ox-drawn carts and bicycles take you around the coast to where coconut palms, traditional Creole properties and secret bays for snorkelling over coral, can all be found close by. If you fancy exploring further offshore there are lots of nearby islands from where to take a boat with Iles Cocos, Marianne and Les Soeursrs all well worth a visit once you've searched for black paradise flycatchers in La Digue Vev Reserve.

Easy access to all of La Digue's low-key facilities ensures Le Repaire hotel is a brilliant boutique base from where to make the most of the Seychelles with nine spacious en-suite guest rooms featuring all mod-cons, providing added luxury for those who like to take their time to recline. The choice between ocean, mountain or garden views and an additional bed for kids, if needed, makes Le Repaire a fabulous find for couples and families alike with an on-site restaurant, swimming pool and access to the beach all adding to the laid back charm of life on La Digue.

Praslin Island

After a few nights on La Digue you'll be invited to check into traditional Creole style accommodation on the island of Praslin. L'Archipel offers elegance and exclusivity in abundance with a private sandy beach and well-kept tropical gardens allowing for an easy ambience against a beautiful natural backdrop of palms, hibiscus and hillsides covered in bougainvillea trees.

This setting is a world away from hotel chains and bland brands and invites the perfect balance of relaxation and intimacy as well as an affordable option for any travellers looking for an authentic experience without the all-inclusive price tag.

Just a few minutes drive from the villages of Baie Ste Anne and Anse Volbert, L'Archipel offers every opportunity to get out and explore or stay put and make the most of the good life with a couple of on-site restaurants offering the freshest seafood menus as well as relaxing ocean views.

As if easy access to the beach wasn't enough your hillside cottage accommodation on Praslin promises an infinity pool and free hire of kayaks and SUP boards as well as additional access to bike hire and snorkel trips for exploring on two wheels or under the water, as the mood dictates.

Responsible tourism

Responsible tourism: Boutique Seychelles holiday, Praslin & La Digue

Responsible Travel doesn't mean having to compromise on the enjoyment of your trip or the quality of your accommodation. We feel strongly that we should directly benefit the communities we visit whenever possible through sustainable travel, environmental protection and social projects, without sacrificing comfort or character.

Whilst we recognise that a vital element of any holiday is relaxation, we do try to encourage our clients to be aware of the impact they have on their destinations. For each booking, we provide notes on cultural sensitivities and our local guides brief our clients upon their arrival. We hope this will help to ensure the sustainability of our destinations and improve the quality of our clients' overall experience.

On this trip the islands that we visit are unique and beautiful, and we encourage our guests to make sure they remain that way. This means not littering, and being careful when exploring the islands, to ensure that you have no detrimental impact to the environment. Our local staff are happy to advise on this matter.

Ethical considerations are also part of our research and development process and we encourage feedback on our practices. Clients are asked to comment and make suggestions on our responsible practices when completing their post-trip questionnaire. In addition to this, as well as visiting destination-based initiatives whilst on their educational trips, our country specialists are encouraged to help continually improve our responsible travel initiatives.

We are committed to supporting a wide number of responsible and ethical initiatives, including environmental projects, community tourism projects and education programmes. We encourage our clients to visit many of these initiatives such as wildlife sanctuaries, local schools, orphanages and co-operatives.

We always use local guides and drivers. This not only provides crucial employment and income for the local community, but also increases the authenticity of the client’s trip. We favour ground agents who have an awareness of responsible tourism policies and strong environmental commitment. Responsible practice is one of the principle criteria during the selection of new suppliers, and ethical initiatives form a fundamental element in our ground arrangements.

Clients are asked to report on the behaviour and awareness of our agents and local guides once they have returned home from their trip.
We always try to favour small locally owned hotels over large international chains. We work closely with our local ground agents to source more small guesthouses, B&Bs, boutique hotels and eco-friendly lodges. This ensures that as much revenue as possible remains in the host country as well as providing an experience with more genuine character for our clients. The hotel in this trip, L'Archipel is locally owned, and hires local staff, keeping all revenue within the island, and giving guests more of a Seychellois experience.

The islands of La Digue and Le Repaire are also within reach of local shops, and we are happy to advise on the best one's to visit, and how to get there, promoting the local economy.

Ethical practice is not just limited to the destinations we operate in. Responsible practice is exercised in our office with various measures put in place aimed at reducing, re-using and recycling resources where possible. We carry out dedicated responsible travel training sessions with all employees upon joining the company.
