Description of Vietnam holiday, South to North
This Vietnam holiday is a tailor made itinerary, starting in the south of the country in Hoi Chi Minh, previously known as Saigon, and then working your way north to Hanoi. The first few days are spent in Hoi Chi Minh, an exhilarating city of busy markets, temples and a lot of roaring scooters. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em we say, and so you get to take a night tour on the back of a vintage Vespa, seeking out all the best food stops along the way. Your next stop is a little bit calmer, given that you are exploring the waters of the Mekong Delta region, with its floating markets, paddy fields and villages, and where you stay in a home stay to gain that fully immersive cultural experience in this spectacular landscape.
After one more night in Ho Chi Minh City, take a flight to Hanang and then transfer onto Hoi An, with its French and Portuguese colonial influences, car free streets lit by thousands of lanterns, and its many artisans. Enjoy a few days here, taking in all the sights and many stalls, and maybe take a craft or cookery lesson of which there are plenty.
One more internal flight takes you to Hanoi in the north, Vietnam’s thousand-year-old capital with vibrant café life and beautiful parks. You will revel in the peace and quiet of a night on a traditional junk boat in Bai Tu Long Bay after that, less well known than Halong Bay but with fewer tourists and noise to interrupt the flow as you sail between karst limestone rocky landscapes.

Enjoyed every single day, the travel arrangements were excellent, and there was the right mix between some days which had a full itinerary- and on others plenty of 'down time' to rest! The hotels were all very comfortable, and the staff couldn't do enough, so friendly. Read full reviewReviewed on 03 Sep 2017 by Ezio La Rosa
There were many, I would pick Ninh Binh as a fantastic example of Vietnamese landscape. My kids would probably pick the Vespa adventures tour in Ho Chi Min City and my wife the Surnise Hotel in Hoi An. Read full reviewResponsible Travel

Vietnam is home to some astounding natural landscapes and it’s important to keep it that way! During this itinerary you’ll stay in small-scale, authentic accommodation throughout, all bursting with local character. Not only does this help to reduce the environmental impact, but also gives you a more authentic experience. We’re especially proud of the accommodation you’ll stay in on Palm Island. The bungalows are built using local materials and the resort has signed up to a commitment to protect the local marine life. They’ve already started to see an improvement and have even been thanked by the local fishermen.Throughout this itinerary you’ll leave your transport behind and discover your surroundings on foot. Hoi An is a UNESCO world heritage site and is the perfect place to discover on a leisurely stroll, so we’ll leave you plenty of free time to discover the town under your own steam. In Hanoi you’ll discover the winding backstreets on foot and using public transport.

We believe in the concept of 'meaningful travel'. When travel is meaningful both you and the country benefit in some way from your visit. You might have the chance to see something completely unique, or interact with the local community in a way that most travellers won’t. On this trip you’ll stay in a homestay on the Mekong Delta. It’s owned and run by a local family who have lived on the Mekong for generations. You’ll learn about their way of life and roll up your sleeves to lend a hand making the evening meal. It’s the perfect way to learn how to cook those delicious delta specialities. In each destination we support a local project by giving you the option to donate a small amount when you book with us. In Vietnam we are proud to support the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation. This is a grassroots Australian charity which has been reaching out to children in crisis throughout Vietnam since 2003. Blue Dragon kids are street kids, children with disabilities, children from very poor families and victims of human trafficking and slavery. Blue Dragon provides them all with schooling, health care, and even rescues children trapped in slavery.
