Carbon reduction

Your holiday will help support local people and conservation. We must also reduce CO2. Learn about the CO2 emissions of this holiday and how to reduce them.

The Castello di Pavone is one of the most beautiful Italian historical monuments and is also considered one of the most scenic and fabulous castles in the world. With so many tourists coming to the area it is important to preserve and protect the local environment from erosion. This is why the municipalities of Cossano Canavese, Caravino and Vestignè are now funding a redevelopment of the footpath trail network through the Masino hills.

And thanks to the contribution of a local association that work will start, to maintain and enhance the entire route, consisting of three routes around the Castle of Masino, the Pera Cunca and villages to Caravino, Cossano and Vestignè.

When planning our tours we are careful to select accommodations, restaurants and transport that demonstrates sustainable environmental stewardship, using local materials and produce whenever possible. We pay attention to the impact of travel and tourism on seasonal, natural and agricultural events, to minimise the impact on the local environment (harvest, plant growth, endangered wildlife, or mating seasons, etc.).

This is a territory you can discover through the fascinating history of the place. Explore two ancient castles, and through the tasting of its wines, from the surrounding hills covered with vineyards. Locals work hard to keep this area beautiful for tourists, which is why we work hard to support local business owners, restaurants, farms and shops.

Not far away, the hills of the Langhe-Roero and Monferrato have recently become the 50th Italian site on the List of Heritage protected by UNESCO, a testament to this country’s rich and beautiful heritage. Also on the tour is Masino Castle, one of 25 Properties that the Italian National Trust (FAI) has been entirely restored, protected and open to the public.

We keep groups small so that travelers can fully experience the destination, and this way we protect the local area from the harmful impact of large tourist groups.

We do our best to apply the principles of responsible tourism, enshrined in the charter of the Association for Responsible Tourism in Italy. AITR's charter complies with the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Staying in the Castello di Pavlone. It is a genuine medieval castle perched on a hill but it has all the comforts of home. There are various restaurants in the Castello and we had dinner on two nights and it was delicious. We also toured two other castles in the region and they were beautiful and amazing. The winery visit to Tenuta Roletto was also very memorable as our hosts were excellent and the wines were fabulous.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Our trip supported historical conservation in that these castles are magnificent but were not crowded with visitors so every bit of assistance must help them maintain these wonderful monuments. Like elsewhere in the first world, the countryside is losing its young people to the cities and the villages are being deserted. Hopefully, by traveling around the country we benefited local people and the local economy.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Wonderful, amazing, relaxing, beautiful.
